On the way to (and on the way back from) getting my shot of lupron, I saw the wild turkey flock that lives in the woods by the back end of town. They were out in the field, wandering about and searching for food. They're a good size flock, about twenty or so birds, all looking healthy and full of waddle. Looks like I might not need to get the IUD - they're going to try a new medicine and see if that'll shrink the fibroid instead. The doctor told me that it is so large, it's blocking 50% of my uterine cavity. Fun times.

We have a groundhog living under our porch! He's fat, the size of a large cat, and quite awesome. Sometimes he chills up on the deck, or out by the car, only to go darting back under the porch when people go outside ( Read more... )

Pre-op testing went alright. Long day, made me tired. I took a nap when I got home. Yesterday was better - went mini-golfing and playing air hockey and skee ball. I'm awake enough now to feel like I want to do something, but too restless to settle on what. I planted my tomato hanging basket today. Supposedly it will start to germinate within the first 10-15 days, according to the package. When the plants get to be about three inches tall, it says to fertilize them with a 'regular plant fertilizer' (Miracle Gro I guess?). Soil has to be kept moist, but not too soggy. Regular doctor tomorrow.

Pre-op appointments (two - one at the doctor, one at the hospital) May 3rd.

First surgery (removing the fibroid, the norplant, and D&C) May 12th.

After that will be another surgery either burning the lining of my uterus or removing it entirely. I'm rooting for removing it entirely so it will trouble me no more.

All day spent in medical tests. Eight vials of blood drawn - and the place we stopped at first wouldn't take Aetna, so we had to go to another place. The blood lady was good at least, and didn't miss a million times like some of them do. She got it right away and pretty painlessly, too.
