So I got a bag of the hardwood charcoal for my grill today. I've been using this Cowboy stuff for a few years now. I've been meaning to comment on how early the mums seem to be this year. Some mums at the cemetery have been blooming for over two weeks now. Others I notice just starting, and still others not yet ready. I always think of mums being fall or late summer plants. What gives?

I was digging around in the attic looking for the Watchmen, and I found a treasure trove of interesting comics. I found an old Mad Magazine from July of 1966 (it's Ryther's and it's as old as he is) and inside was something I just found so timely, so I have to share. All credit to Mad as I'm sure it's copyrighted to some degree.

Somehow what the government is doing to save us from what was originally the 'banking' bailout reminds me of a cage full of mice. Very confused, very chaotic, and very smelly. Toxic assets? The New England Flower Show has been canceled for 2009. I can understand why though. It's way overpriced, just to look at flower displays and basically advertising for dozens of landscapers and contractors, and a chance to buy plants and stuff after.
