There now, I did it!  Almost anyway.

I went to Pilates this morning (still recovering, thank you for asking,) and had coffee with some of the class afterwards.  Then came home, pegged out (the towels) and, as promised/threatened, got on and dusted and Dysoned.

Aaaarrrggh!  They're already using the 'C' (or more likely the 'X') word.  Sewing Quarter had 'C****** in July' programmes last month, as have other channels, writes she having noted when skipping through looking for something actually interesting.

'Tother day I noticed a hole in the heel of one of H's socks.  That sock hadn't had another hole which I'd already darned.  Wonder where it had been hiding?  Then last night I noticed that one of his big-toe nails, which sort of stick up at a 45° angle, was coming through the toe of his sock.  Darn!  Literally, once it's been washed.  He hasn't had ( Read more... )

Err, probably.  Found a YouTube clip on How To Darn Socks, in English even.  We don't have a mushroom - the wooden kind you use for darning, not the fungus.  So what, I was a Girl Guide.  Didn't learn to darn socks but I can improvise.  For that matter, I was a Full Time Mother for *cough* years and if that doesn't teach you to think on your feet ( Read more... )

So yesterday was the Autumnal Equinox, for those of us living north of the Equator.  Officially the first day of Autumn and all that.  From now on in it's ever shorter and darker evenings until winter Solstice.  For those in the Antipodes it was the first day of Spring.  And so the year turns.
