The new job is intense in a really strange way. The clients are just not like anything I was prepared for or ready to deal with. I’m worried, really. But I will keep trying. I got a new job!! I’ll be working in Old Strathcona at the youth drop-in centre. I’ll be the art and music facilitator working with high risk and street involved youth 14 to 24. The interview with the Bennett Centre went really well, I think. I don’t feel like I made many mistakes, so that’s good. Her only concerns were that I don’t have a vehicle and that I don’t have a science background. I told her I could always get rides and I’ll do any studying up she wants. Half the Bennett Centre burned to the ground yesterday. That’s the complex that holds Camp fYrefly every year. It’s made up of an old school building from 1912 and dormitory/cafeteria building. During the year they take in field trips of grades 4-6ers to do science experiments, nature walks, etc. and they hold kids camps during the summer. People ( Read more... )

I’ve now heard back from both jobs. I’ve also entirely lost my voice so I really don’t know what to tell the woman at the Bennett Centre. I’m scared of going into an interview and losing the ability to speak 5 minutes in. Maybe I should take a whiteboard? Ha.
