1. Very busy at church today. As the prelude, the choir sang an uptempo gospel-ish song called SUNSHINE IN MY SOUL, which we've been working on for weeks, and it turned out very well. Whew. We had our pre-Thanksgiving intergenerational service at church today. The high-school class did an "instant fundraiser" to raise more money to send to Heifer International. We were a few dollars short of having enough money to buy a goat ($120) so we passed a hat, literally, and people gave us more than $150 on the spot. So now we have enough to ( Read more... )

2. Today was pretty quiet overall. Church was pretty good today. I helped with the high-school class and we spent most of the hour deciding what to do with our $114 share of the money brought in at the rummage sale in late September. 1. We had a pancake breakfast at church this morning. We hadn't done something like this in at least five years. We should do this more often. The food was good and people had a nice time; we even had some folks from the neighborhood stop by. Apparently the organizers made 250 flyers and blanketed the neighborhood with them, and I think that helped ( Read more... )

1. Today at church our choir sang a beautiful gospel-type piece called "There is More Love Somewhere." We worked on it for several Sundays (just like from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., before the 10 a.m. service) and it sounded fantastic. 1. Today is Dia de los Muertos, aka the Day of the Dead. We had our annual remembrance service at church, complete with very Mexican decorations.
