1. Very busy at church today. As the prelude, the choir sang an uptempo gospel-ish song called SUNSHINE IN MY SOUL, which we've been working on for weeks, and it turned out very well. Whew. I'll have to tell the choir director that I found out (via Google) that the Mormon Tabernacle Choir recorded that song in 2006; I'm glad we didn't know that, or we might have felt a bit intimidated. Immediately after the song I went down to the religious education area, where I was leading the high school class in a discussion about homelessness. We talked about a local umbrella agency that helps homeless people, then watched some videos on YouTube and discussed them.
2. My afternoon was relatively quiet until a little after 4p.m. when DD said, "Let's go to
Picnic Point and hike along the trail." I hadn't been to this place (a
peninsula that juts out into our Big Lake) in many years but DD had visited recently with our friend DC and her dogs. Anyway once we got our stuff together, it was about a 20-25 minute drive through the heart of town to get to Picnic Point. I parked the car and we walked the entire trail, which was full of mud and mostly-melted snow from last night (we lucked out and got maybe 2.5 inches, which melted in the sunshine). I hadn't known that Picnic Point is almost a mile long! So I guess we hiked about 1.75 miles in about 40 minutes. Really sort of strolling but it was a beautiful, bright spring afternoon. I was glad to go out with DD but I hope we can find a few places to hike that are a bit closer to our house.
3. My left foot has been bothering me for awhile. I think I've got sort of permanent tendinitis on the top of my foot, and now I'm afraid I'm getting plantar fasciitis on the sole of the foot. So I probably need to back away from exercise videos, hikes, etc. for a little while.
4. Still watching KINGS.
The only major characters who don't seem Machiavellian to me are David Shepherd and (Princess) Michelle Benjamin. And is the Queen a bit like Lady Macbeth? Hmmm. I wonder when the Prince, Jack (Jonathan) will really blow his top; I just see a lot of anguish coming up for that guy...not to mention he's not really David's friend.
5. Did some laundry today, including washing the sheets for our king-sized bed. Decided to flip the mattress for the first time in...ages. Damn, that thing is heavy and bulky.
Hope y'all had a good weekend! Back to the salt mines tomorrow.
