Stop asking if I'm seeing the latest "Star Trek" movie. The answer is NO! Couldn't even sit through the first 10 minutes of the last one before I turned it off!

But then again, I've never been able to get into ANY "Star Trek" except the original series and the movies that had the original series cast.

Showed mom some early "Happy Days" episodes on DVD this evening. She noticed Richie had a brother, livingroom was different, and Fonzi wasn't in leather. Had to school her in a bit of my historical TV knowledge.

Andrew is out with his girlfriend this afternoon. As a result, able to watch "The Tech Guy" on the higher bitrate stream on the BIG TV for the first time in ages without having to worry about buffering because he's using bandwidth!

Mom, my son, and I sat in the livingroom yesterday evening and watched two more "Twilight Zone" episodes on the season 4 Blu-ray set... "Valley of the Shadow" and "He's Alive"...

Am I getting old if I remember only having three channels on the TV, having to get up to change the channel, and sometimes having to adjust the vertical and horizontal knobs to straighten out the picture I was getting from a set of "rabbit ears" on top of the TV?

Amazing how many great shows you discover on over-the-air broadcast TV when you "cut the cable". Watched "A Gifted Man" this evening on CBS for the first time. Damn good show ( Read more... )

Barring any calls offering me work this week, I'm going to start a project that will save ME about $120/month and my mom about $60/month. Going to buy some new, higher grade outdoor coaxial cable and a higher powered amplifier for my outdoor TV antenna, to boost its signal strength on local "over the air channels". Just spent most of the morning and part of the afternoon moving the big TV antenna off the short pole on the roof, to the taller pole in the front of the house. Almost didn't get it loose from the old pole. The U-bolts had rusted, and even dousing them with WD-40 didn't help much! That antenna hasn't been messed with since I mounted it in 1998.
