We limped into Tucson at sunset Saturday. We had to unhitch the car in New Mexico and I drove it while wayfinder38 drove the motorhome. He had to stop several times to let the engine compartment cool down. We made it up the Texas Canyon summit, we took a rest there and the weather was cooling down. Since the part to replace the throttle sensor would not work, we decided to have a whole new throttle assembly put in. They were able to find one in El Paso and installed it today. We paid off the bill with one part over $1000. We started out of El Paso and took the Trans Mountain Loop which crosses the Franklin Mountains that divide El Paso. We ( Read more... )

I decided to take a break from enumerating our woes. We did some exploring of El Paso and went to a movie. Monday we took our Bluebird back to the shop, they installed the new filter and then proceeded to do further analysis. When I last wrote we were stranded in Van Horn, TX. A two bit town with pretensions. Yesterday morning the two truck driver said our problem was the transmission filters. wayfinder38 checked the transmission fluid and said "I don't think so." All our gear was stowed away and we were all ready to pull out of the parking lot and be on our way this morning. I went outside to do the walk around to check the tires. This morning we left the motorhome in the shop and went in search of breakfast. We found a Denny's a few miles away and then remembered we have a GPS system on our PDA's that is supposed to give us information about nearby facilities. I don't remember where I left off. wayfinder38 wound up getting toxic from his potassium pills. His doctor wanted a current blood test to check his levels and kidney function.
