ER vist # 3

This morning we left the motorhome in the shop and went in search of breakfast. We found a Denny's a few miles away and then remembered we have a GPS system on our PDA's that is supposed to give us information about nearby facilities. I turned mine on to locate the nearest Walgreens so we could renew wayfinder38's insulin. I also looked up the nearest hospital just to have the information if we needed it.
So our new protocol when traveling is to locate medical facilities where ever we stop.

Later that day our Dr. recommended that wayfinder38 go to urgent care to have his foot checked in case he had a blood clot. I phoned ahead and the Fast Trac RN said don't bother with urgent care they will just refer you over to the ER. So this time WF was ambulatory enough that he could get to the car and I drove over to Baylor Medical Center (hospital) ER.

Our new pastime seems to be rating ER service. This one gets a top score. He was seen immediately by the triage nurse, then the admitting clerk, assigned a room and within 10 minutes the Dr. came into the room. Tests were run, sonogram of legs were taken and the Dr. came into the room before the patient was back from the tests. The news was good. No sign of blood clot, no sign of congestive heart failure, and best of all the creatinine level was coming down. The ER Dr. phoned our primary care physician and consulted with him regarding treatment. We were told that the preferred treatment for Sciatica is steroids and not the pain medication or the muscle relaxants.

So we left the ER with a new prescription for WF, it's off to the pharmacy and dinner. We spotted a big Oriental market in a building called Little Saigon Mall. So we ate at the Pho Vietnamese Restaurant. I had a Vermicelli and Lemon Grass Chicken bowl and WF had a Stir fry rice noodle, seafood and vegetable dish. Plus spring rolls and egg rolls. The rolls were so so, my dish was the best, the stir fry noodles were dreadful. We have had Vietnamese many times better at Saigon Noodle in Madison.

While we were eating the anticipated weather front arrived with rain. We went from 70 plus degrees to chilly and raining in a few minutes. I 'm glad we had the foresight to bring jackets with us.

Repairs to the motorhome to be continued Thursday. Meanwhile we are snug at home watching the rain and lightning.

We now feel that we can leave for Tucson Friday or Saturday weather permitting and perhaps by the beginning of the week wayfinder38 will be able to do some limited driving.
