I got my flu shot this morning and just got home when the phone rang. wayfinder38 phoned to let me know he was feeling much better. He was not wheezing and generally felt pretty good. He had seen the Dr. and now they are talking discharge tomorrow. I dropped off prescriptions at the pharmacy for when he gets home and went over to the hospital ( Read more... )

wayfinder38 slept most of the day away. The nurses think it is because his blood sugar level is so high because of the prednisone. This amount of sleep is unusual. We spoke with the Social Worker this morning and she contacted the hospice agency I interviewed Monday. My cell phone was down to two bars so I waited to go into the hospital until it was charged. I phoned the patient when I was on my way and the Dr. was in the room so she talked to me on the phone. wayfinder38 had to ask to be moved as his roommate in the hospital was disturbed and disturbing. They moved him next door this morning and he spent most of the day dozing with constant interruptions. wayfinder38 is back in the hospital again. At 9 this morning he was awake and oriented. I have him Tylenol and Oxycodone and let him rest until it took hold. at 10:45 he was running a fever of 100.9 and was out of it. Phoned 911, EMT's arrive check his oxygen level down to 76. I got the phone call this afternoon while standing in line at the bank. The biopsy results are all clear. No sign of malignancy. It is fibrocystic changes that are not unusual. Also there are no precursor signs of breast cancer.

One less worry for me.

Just after wayfinder38's 70th birthday we met with his oncologist. We discussed the lack of appetite and the weight loss and the need for pain management. The oncologist said that it was the cancer causing the lack of appetite and weight loss. He then suggested we look into Hospice. We were stunned.
