Wayfinder38

wayfinder38 is back in the hospital again. At 9 this morning he was awake and oriented. I have him Tylenol and Oxycodone and let him rest until it took hold. at 10:45 he was running a fever of 100.9 and was out of it. Phoned 911, EMT's arrive check his oxygen level down to 76. Turn up oxygen, blood sugar 102, breathing raspy. I said I thought he had pneumonia again or still. Ambulance to hospital with our son riding shotgun. I stayed to put together the usual kit for the hospital and to email his pulmonologist. He arrived at hospital by noon and by 5 was in a room. This was the shortest ER visit yet. I have no idea what made the difference perhaps the middle of the day arrival. At least I am not losing a nights attempt to sleep.

They gave him a breathing treatment in the ambulance and started an IV. Actually he has a Urinary Tract Infection which accounts for the fever and confusion plus pneumonia.
He was given 2 IV antibiotics and by 7:30 was looking better and sounding oriented plus he was able to eat his supper which he had managed to order for himself.

I met wayfinder38 50 years ago on a blind date. I was 17 and he was 20. We have been lucky. My sister observed yesterday that we have grown in the same direction. I said it wasn't skill. We are blessed with two wonderful children and 4 terrific grandchildren. He so wanted to live to see the grandchildren grown. Now his goal is to live until the first of the year. I hope I can help him reach that goal.
