THE END AND AUTHOR CRYING.
20
So, Woohyun - just like always - does the exact opposite thing, and accidently pulls the trigger.
All of them kind of freeze, because by the way Woohyun is holding it, eyes closed and head turned the other way, aiming it right into the center of a mess of limbs on the floor, either of them can get hurt (including Woohyun).
But there is no gunshot. No deafening boom goes off. No smell of gun powder fills the room. Woohyun opens one eye, then another.
Instead, a little bright flame comes out of muzzle.
It’s a gun-lighter.
For cigarettes. A toy-gun.
Everybody simultaneously avert their eyes to Myungsoo.
“Well, what.” He rubs his nape. “Where would I get a real gun?”
Sungyeol wants to burst out laughing at how silly Myungsoo is, and how much he loves him, and how much he regrets even doubting for a second that it’s a real gun.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Joon half snorts, before clutching back onto Sungyeol’s hair, and pulling it as he stands up.
Sungyeol tries to claw it out of his hands, but his grip is pretty strong. He drags him across the room towards the second gun.
“Get off him before your precious boyfriend will get hurt!” He hurls towards Myungsoo, who’s just about to punch Mir for the second time.
He picks up the gun before Sungyeol can locate it, and clamps it to Sungyeol’s neck; the muzzle is still hot from shooting barely seconds ago, and it burns his skin.
He hisses in pain.
“Get off him now, before he loses a limb!!” Sungyeol looks up, and finally sees that Joon is just as scared as any of them.
He’s sweaty, and the gun in his grip is a little shaky.
Although it doesn’t stir any sympathy for him, Sungyeol suddenly understands that spooking Sungjong and Myungsoo while nobody’s looking, and having an actual show-down with them is completely different.
He is just as threatened, just as terrified by the situation. He probably imagined it a lot easier in his head.
If before he looked cruel and invincible, now he became a lot more human, a lot easier to defeat.
Myungsoo immediately takes a step back off Mir. Sungjong follows his example, although he looks pumped up to fight more, his cheeks are red; he probably finally got some of that long awaited revenge by tearing off some of Mir’s hairs.
Mir scampers to Joon, near the couch, clutching onto his shirt, while panting out.
“Why are you all staring at me?!” Joon yells waving carelessly the gun. “This is your entire fault! You approached us first!”
Sungyeol diverts his gaze at his friends.
How the hell can he blame this on them? But Sungjong’s bows his head in shame, as if he really is at fault.
“Is that a reason to hunt us down?” Myungsoo immediately jumps up; “To demand compensation? How are we guilty in shit that you’ve done?! Look at what you’re doing! You have two completely innocent people involved!”
Joon snorts, jiggling Sungyeol’s head by his hair as if it’s some kind of a ball; “Because you did no wrong, right? Saint martyrs you are! What about the injustice you did with us?”
“Injustice? If Sungjong knew what monsters you are before he approached this… asshole,” Myungsoo throws an angry look at Mir, who sneers at him; “He would’ve taken a double-take.”
“Oh, please! He knew exactly what he was getting into!”
Sungjong covers his face with his hands when he hears Mir speak.
“I bet your shrilly friends would love to hear what got them into this situation! It was your buddy Sungjong! He was the one who attached himself to me!” Mir yells pointing at Sungjong; “He wanted to get a mature boyfriend! You used to really like me! What happened with that, huh?!”
“You happened!” Sungjong yells back. “You happened! You used me to stealcigarettes for you! You used me to take money from my mom’s wallet! You used me to degrade people! And I did it because I was foolish enough to believe you’ll notice me and like me! I didn’t know he was your boyfriend! You played along with me like I was your retarded marionette!”
“Used you? We merely taught you our ways! And one day you come up to us, claiming Myungsoo is your boyfriend! Think of how hurt I was!”
“Stop pretending to be victims! You terrorized us for money!” Myungsoo looks at Mir in complete disgust, and Sungyeol suddenly understands why Myungsoo agreed so fast to their deal; he was in that situation before - so he always knew what to do and how to act around Woohyun.
Sungyeol feels suddenly sorry for Sungjong from the pit of his stomach.
He dragged everybody into this. That’s why he said it’s his fault. That’s why he didn’t want more people involved. Sungjong must be experiencing such tremendous guilt on his shoulders, that Sungyeol can’t even imagine it.
“Stir them up some more, that really adds up to the situation!” Woohyun scolds and puts a hand on Sungjong’s shoulder.
“Because you’ve been so useful today you make my eyes rolls back,” Myungsoo bites back at him.
“Yeah, just like bringing a toy-gun is useful!”
“At least I know how to aim-”
“Shut up both of you!” Joon sounds irritated but before he can continue, Woohyun takes a large gulp, and finally speaks to Joon; “Just tell us what you want and we’ll get it to you! Just don’t hurt anyone!”
“Don’t you understand that’s exactly what they want, Woohyun?! They’re not going to shoot anyone! Even his daddy won’t bail them out of a murder case!” Sungyeol exclaims, but Joon pulls harder at his hair to shut him up.
“Give us the bag with the money, and we’ll leave.”
“Don’t give them anything!”
“You should shut up and stay still!”
“Or what? You’ll shoot me? You do understand you have three eyewitnesses right there. And your fingerprints are all over the place!”
Joon shoots the cement floor right beside Sungyeol’s leg.
The noise is so deafening, that it echoes in his ears for a long minute. The bullet bounces off into one of the metal walls of the warehouse.
“Sungyeol, could you just keep your tongue inside for once in your life-time?! Just do what he says!” Myungsoo looks panicked as he slurs the words out of his mouth. He snatches the lighter from Woohyun’s hand and pulls the sports bag from the floor.
He’s about to give it to Joon, when he stops.
“First release him.”
“You’re in no condition to negotiate with us!” Joon presses the gun back to Sungyeol.
“Am I?” Myungsoo pulls the trigger of his gun and it lights up, just above the bag. “You need the money, right? I’ll burn it down in a second, unless you let him go.”
“Do you want him dead so bad?! I’ll shoot him!”
Myungsoo brings the bag closer to the fire.
“First give us the bag, and we’ll release him!” Mir says, holding his hands up.
“No-“
“Myungsoo just give them the bag!” Woohyun pleads from behind him.
Then the door is kicked opened.
The bag falls to the floor; unintentionally on fire, but no one notices it, as their eyes are all on the sole entrance of the warehouse.
“Sunggyu,” Surprisingly enough, the first one to speak is Woohyun, and he sounds relieved.
Sunggyu stands there, with his cell phone in his hand. He scans the room slowly before seething out a;
“Get your hands off him.”
There’s silent rage in his voice, and Joon stands on his ground for a second longer, before slowly, finger by finger releases his clasp on Sungyeol’s hair.
“Somebody wants to explain what’s going on?” He continues. “Before I call the higher-ups to ask.” He adds, eyes only on Joon.
“We were just having some harmless fun,” Mir is quick to answer.
Sunggyu grabs the gun from Joon’s hands, and with a few quick clicks, the ammo drops down from the magazine onto the floor, and scatters around the room. “Doesn’t look so harmless.” Sunggyu states.
Dongwoo suddenly appears in the door; he looks like he was dragged right out of shower, his hair is still wet (and a bit soaped) and his shirt is sticking to his damp body, face twisted in worry.
“I told you to stay in the car,” Sunggyu frowns at him, but Dongwoo completely ignores him, and runs past Joon and Mir to check if Sungyeol is okay (probably because he’s on the floor and bleeding), fretting that he heard the gunshots and he thought they got hurt. Hoya enters right after him, examining the room.
Upon seeing the two of them, he suddenly feels safe and comforted and he feels like crying and laughing at the same time.
Dongwoo smells like citrus, probably because of the shampoo in his hair, and for some odd reason, instead of citrus, Sungyeol smells home.
Dongwoo coughs a few times, and Sungyeol looks around, and sees that it’s because the burning bag with the money, was on the rug, and the rug got caught on fire as well.
“Shit, the money.” Mir yelps, and immediately tries to extinguish it with his legs, but it’s too late.
The black bag is consumed by flames, and the cash inside of it floats up in dark black ashes around Mir.
Joon pulls him out of the fire before he gets aflame as well.
“What’s this?” Sunggyu asks as he catches out of the half burned money bills.
“Is this because of the money you borrowed from the company? I knew you were late on your payment, but this is just…” He looks around, mainly on Sungjong’s face, who’s now buried in Hoya’s neck, and Sungyeol’s bleeding forehead.
Sunggyu continues to speak, though in whispers, and Sungyeol doesn’t hear much of it, because Dongwoo checks the wound on his forehead and tells him to count the fingers in his hand (a blow on his head didn’t make him stupid! He can count just fine, thankyou! But then he says four instead of five, and Dongwoo frowns at him.)
“Go to the car,” he hears Sunggyu say, and Dongwoo hurries to compel to his bidding, and helps Sungyeol up.
Myungsoo kind of catches his hand and drapes it around his shoulder before Dongwoo can; “Sungjong has a few burns on his hands; could you check them out, Hyung?”
Dongwoo nods and Myungsoo nods back.

Apparently the warehouse was a part of some scrap-yard, because there’s nothing but old metals and crushed cars for at least a mile.
Or it looks like a mile.
He’s not sure, but they’ve been walking for pretty long.
They don’t make it to the car, because Sungyeol feels dizzy in the middle and asks Myungsoo to stop.
They sit on some rusty metallic bath which is turned upside down and watch how the warehouse flares up.
He feels like puking now that everything is over. He feels like now that he’s safe and he’s with Myungsoo, everything hurts and he just wants to sleep and he’s hungry and nauseous at the same time.
“Do you think everybody made it to the car?”
“Probably.”
Sungyeol nods, and turns to him.
For some odd reason, he thinks of his first date with Myungsoo, when they were sitting on top of that park, watching the sunset, and Myungsoo shyly looked away from him when caught staring.
Just like then Myungsoo got caught staring, but this time around he doesn’t avert his gaze away from Sungyeol. He puts his hands on Sungyeol cheeks; one of his hands slides to Sungyeol’s nape, and he brings their foreheads together.
“I’m sorry.”
“Yeah, well, that’s not going to be enough.”
“I know.”
“Good.”
“Sungjong was so lonely back when we only started learning in this school. We didn’t have any friends, because we were on scholarship. And one day, he comes up to me all glowing, saying that he found the guy of his dreams. Only… he wasn’t the man of his dreams. So… we come up with this plan. I’ll pretend to be his boyfriend, and they’ll lay off him...”
“But they didn’t.”
“No. We were too transparent; Sungjong is like a brother to me. They demanded compensation for being treated for fools. And at first it was just lunch money, and silly things like cigarettes or expensive cases to their phones… but then they stated demanding huge sums. Like two million.”
“Why didn’t you tell me anything?”
“Because watching Sungjong get through this was hard enough!”
“Myungsoo?”
“I was supposed to give them 10 million, and they promised to stay away from you. To ensure they’ll do it permanently, I broke up with you. But I couldn’t come up with such a huge amount in such a little time. I sold my camera and my-”
“Myungsoo!”
“What…?”
“I’m going to puke.”
“But… I’m…” He sighs; “I just wanted you safe, Sungyeol-” Sungyeol shoves him away, leans down and vomits.
“Oh,” Myungsoo pats his back while he empties the contents of his stomach on the mud of the scrap-yard. “You’re really sick. I thought you looked kinda greener than usual, froggy.”
Although completely disoriented and sick, Sungyeol still manages to look up and glare at him for probably being the greatest asshole on the planet.
“We are so over.” He tells him, before leaning back down and continuing to puke.
When he thinks he’s done, he raises up again; “I am never getting back to you, ever.” But then he throws up again, and Myungsoo laughs because he’s a jerk.

He stays in the hospital for a week, because apparently, concussion is more serious than how they describe it on TV.
He misses out the end of the school year, and Sunggyu and Dongwoo’s graduation ceremony, but they bring him a load of pictures and that’s how he finds out that Sunggyu and Woohyun got back together (imagine the surprise on his face) because most of them are just pictures with the two of them kissing and hanging on each other’s throats.
Oh, and he’s grounded until his mom decides otherwise, because “no one is trying to assassinate him inside his room” (which is kind of funny, because they don’t let him leave the hospital anyway).
Myungsoo stays with him in the first 24 hours because Sungyeol needs to stay awake the whole time. Because he’s being an asshole, and Sungyeol isn’t sure where exactly they stand (and he’s angry because all of this is Myungsoo’s fault!), he just gives him the silent treatment and ignores him, even when the other comes up with snide remarks and tries to annoy him and pokes his ribs (that just makes him all the more furious, if to be honest).
After that he only comes occasionally, mostly just to sneak him some chocolates when the nurse isn’t looking. He makes an effort to barely look at them when Myungsoo is still in the room, but devours them when he leaves. (Have you ever tasted hospital food? They probably kill rats with it!)
Myungsoo talks about a load of things; he tells him that now that he haven’t seen Joon at graduation ceremony, and he doubts he’ll even see him again. Sometimes he keeps apologizing like a broken record, sometimes he slips in some details that Sungyeol didn’t need to know (Sungjong taught Myungsoo how to French kiss! He screams ‘incest’ in disgust at Myungsoo for over an hour before calming down).
When he finally gets released from the hospital, they throw a little party in Sunggyu’s house.
Just the seven of them (oh, and the Twins promise to come, but they don’t show up after Hoya warns him that from ‘drinking some beer’ in turned to a complete alcohol fest, and unless they want to see a porn movie involving Sunggyu and Woohyun, they should probably stay away).
Sunggyu and Woohyun are making out in the corner, and Sungyeol just treats them like an empty spot in his vision. Sungjong, still sprouting a bandage on his shoulder, is dancing to MISS A’s new song (in a rather sluttishly way, if Sungyeol might add) and Dongwoo is rolling on the floor laughing as if he’s off his meds, while Hoya claps his hands.
“Hi.”
Myungsoo brings him his favorite beer, because Sungyeol just finished a bottle, and Sungyeol hates him for knowing. “Hi.” He replies rashly and decides he’s not going to talk for too long with him and just move away, because then he’ll be tempted to forgive him.
“I have a proposition.”
“I don’t want to hear it.”
“But it’s-“
“No.”
“Even if-“
“No.”
Myungsoo makes a face, and then throw something at him.
Sungyeol glares at him.
“What’s this?” It’s a small golden box.
“Open it.”
“The only way for you to convince me to get back to you is only if you stand on your knees-” But then the box is opened, and it’s that small infinity necklace Sungyeol wanted.
“You were saying?” Myungsoo chuckles. “I ordered it online. Just so you know, it is pretty cheap. Even for me. Didn’t have the heart to sell it.”
Sungyeol moves to touch it, but Myungsoo takes the box away from him and snaps it closed. “Unfortunately, you didn’t want to hear my proposition, so I don’t think this belongs to you.”
Sungyeol furrows his eyebrows and tries to take the box back from him but Myungsoo holds it out of his reach.
“You can get it, but it depends on your cooperation.” He says.
“What would I need to cooperate with?”
“All you have to do is to be my boyfriend.”
Sungyeol laughs. “Do I get half of the necklace now, and half later?”
“Something like that.”
Urgh, he hates him so bad, but loves him even more than he hates him. He loves him more than anything, actually. No matter how much of a stupid asshole he is. He just wants to put that episode behind them, and continue exactly where they left off.
“You get the necklace now, and if you agree, I’ll tell you a secret.”
“Alright. I agree.” He grabs the box out of Myungsoo’s hand, and opens it, to touches the shiny silver.
“You have to kiss me to seal the contract.” Myungsoo’s smiling, so Sungyeol leans down and give him a peck. “You don’t deserve anything better until further notice.”
Myungsoo chuckles, rubs their noses together, and kisses him again despite what Sungyeol said.
He kisses him so strongly, that Sungyeol's heart and body melt into a gooey puddle, just like they did the first time they practiced.
It feels like everything between them up until now was completely erased and they started anew.
When they’re both out of breath and blushing, Sungyeol rubs his head on Myungsoo’s shirt and clutches onto his shirt that smells of his strong cologne.
“What’s the secret?” he asks.
Myungsoo stay quiet for a long while, before putting a hand through Sungyeol’s hair. “I love you, too.”
