Myungsoo glides the little Mocha can down the table while eyeing him weirdly.

“What?”Sungyeol snaps and shoves the can back. “I hate mocha. Next time bring an Americano.”

“Good, because I bought it for me, but you looked like you were in a dire need of one, and I was trying to be the nice fake boyfriend, I am.”

e glares at him. Myungsoo opens the can. “I heard, by the way.”

“About what?” Sungyeol stirs his chopsticks in his food. He doesn’t feel like eating at all.

“That Nam Woohyun got a boyfriend. And that it’s not you.”

Sungyeol continues to move the chopstick in his rice. He might as well just throw it away. Or throw it at Myungsoo’s face.

“The girls in my class kept squealing about seeing them kissing in the yard.”

He sips from his coffee, and continues; “Instead of sitting here like the abandoned puppy you are, you should use the fact that you also have a boyfriend.”

Sungyeol turns to bite something snarky, but Hoya dumps his tray on the table and surprises him; “Ugh, forgot my food and my wallet, had to buy cafeteria-food.”

“Looks disgusting,” Myungsoo examines the food on the plate. Despite the comment, he actually looks like he wants to try it out.

“It is disgusting,” Hoya agrees. “But when I’m hungry I’m not very picky.”

“You can have mine.” Sungyeol pushes his lunchbox to Hoya.

“Then what would you eat?”

He shrugs.

Hoya suddenly smiles and stands up. “Hyung,” he all but exclaims.

It’s another senior, who looks like he just woke up, with tussled light colored hair and thick lips. “Hoya,” He breathes, a little lost. “What are you doing here?”

Hoya laughs a little; “I learn here, remember? Here, come sit with us.”

The senior nods and slumps on the seat next to Hoya.

“This is Jang Dongwoo; he was supposed to help us out with the physics project…?” Dongwoo has a toothy grin, as an apology when Hoya introduces him. “This is my best friend, Lee Sungyeol.”

Dongwoo nods quickly, giving him a careful, bright smile and Sungyeol flashes him a smile back.

“And this is… Myungsoo.” Hoya has a difficulty to define Myungsoo. And Sungyeol doesn’t blame him. It’s not like he’s a friend or anything. He’s just this… guy-thing sitting with them.

Myungsoo isn’t even listening; he’s busy watching some birds from the window. Sungyeol rolls his eyes and pinches him.

“He’s mentally ill.” He explains to Dongwoo. “Please forgive him.” Sungyeol apologizes in Myungsoo’s behalf. Myungsoo glares at him.

Hoya looks really pleased that Dongwoo’s eating with them and that Sungyeol welcomed him better than he did Sunggyu.

Dongwoo’s a little of a airhead, but he perks up once Myungsoo and Sungyeol start bickering, and laughs at everything Hoya says.

It’s actually pretty fun, until Kim Sunggyu dumps his tray next to Dongwoo’s. “You promised to wait up and then wondered off again.” He accuses, eyeing Dongwoo.

Sungyeol hates the stupid hamster, because Dongwoo’s expression immediately darkens. His sunny smile falters from his lips, and he looks back on his food.

He hates Kim Sunggyu even more, when his counterpart arrives. Are they joined at the hip or something?

Nam Woohyun glances at the table. “What, no place for me?” he complains, seeing that the whole five spots are now occupied. He pouts to Sunggyu, puffing his cheeks, and the other catches his hand.

“I guess you’ll have to sit alone, then.” He teases. Woohyun slaps his hand playfully.

Sungyeol feels like puking.

“Nonsense,” Hoya decides; “Let’s move to a bigger table.”

“That’s okay, I was just leaving.” Sungyeol is about to stand up, but Myungsoo catches his hand.

“You didn’t finish your food,” he says, as if compelling him to sit back down, but Sungyeol shrugs his hand off, makes sure not to look at Woohyun before mumbling a quick “I’m not hungry,”.

Myungsoo follows him out of the cafeteria. He catches him by the arm in the hallway and drags him to an empty bathroom.

“Guess who just made himself look like a complete loser?”

“Thanks for the prep-talk but I seriously don’t need it.” He turns to get out of the bathroom, but Myungsoo continues; “You should’ve stayed put and told the two of them to find a table for themselves.”

“I can’t watch them flirting! It’s humiliating!”

“Then act like you don’t care. You ran away like a scared little bunny the first chance you got.”

“Because he never did that with me!”

That sure shuts Myungsoo up. And it hurts even more, because it’s the truth.

“We never flirted! Nor did we make it public! It’s-”

Sungyeol doesn’t feel like talking with anybody right now, so he just leaves; “I’ll see you on Monday.”

It was nice of Myungsoo to try to help up, but this is beyond repair.

Sungyeol is sulking before the weekend even starts. On Friday night, Hoya suggests to go clubbing and keeps on encouraging him to talk to Woohyun. Sungyeol doesn’t do either, and makes a personal goal out of beating Hoya’s high-score in Left 4 Dead.

On Saturday he gets a message.

It’s an unfamiliar number, but he kind of remembers the digits.

“Are you minding your own business?”

It’s obviously Kim Myungsoo, and he smiles because Myungsoo is an asshole, so he sends back just that and adds his number under the word; “Asshole”.

“Just checking to see that you didn’t commit a suicide yet.” From; Asshole.

“How did you even get my number?” To; Asshole.

“Sungjong is really good at digging up stuff.” From; Asshole.

“You called me to spook the shit out of me, that day, didn’t you? Weirdo.” To; Asshole.

“I’m not the one who nearly pissed his pants. I was looking for you, and coincidently, you were just past the corner.” From; Asshole.

“Am I supposed to believe that? Creep.” To; Asshole.

“At least I’m not stalking you by filming how you sulk on your bed.” From; Asshole.

“How do you know I’m sulking on my bed?” To; Asshole.

Myungsoo doesn’t answer for five long minutes.

That’s when it dawns to Sungyeol, and he jumps to his window, removes the curtain, and examines his yard, tree-branches included. No sign of Myungsoo. The lights in Woohyun’s room are opened, but the curtains are drawn closed.

Sungyeol calls Myungsoo out of spite.

He answers after two rings.

“You are so creepy, you know that? At least could’ve answered something!”

Myungsoo chuckles. His voice sounds different on the phone. “You actually looked out of the window, didn’t you? You’re so predictable.”

“No I’m not.”

“Yes, you are.”

“Am not,” Sungyeol insists.

“Alright, then observe my psychic powers. You’re on your bed and are still in your pajamas although it’s Saturday evening and your friends called you to hang out.”

Sungyeol doesn’t denies it, just hums back in reply.

“You’re probably wrapped in some thick blanket... there’s a can of half eaten ice-cream... empty chocolate wrappings... and there’s some bad action movie playing on your TV...” He gets almost everything right, except the ice-cream - it was actually a huge dietetic Yogurt container that his mom bought for herself.

He doesn’t say that Myungsoo is wrong, though, because he likes how his voice sounds; kind of husky and low.

They continue to talk until 1 am, and then fight about something irrelevant, and hang up on each other. Sungyeol is so furious at the things Myungsoo said that he can’t fall asleep for the longest time.

In the morning when Myungsoo sends another message, claiming that Sungyeol should pay him extra because he’s being such a wonderful boyfriend and checks up on him, he doesn’t even remembers what they fought about.

Before he notices, it’s evening, and he has spent all day long on the phone.

Kim Myungsoo actually turns out to be a decent guy. Somewhat. Although he’s a cynical bastard and Sungyeol refuses to believe otherwise.

ldquo;-Besides, he was the one who sent me a message on Saturday night,” Sungyeol tells Sungjong, who looks a little left out when they meet in the hall by their lockers at recess.

“So you turned me down, saying your mom was feeling bad and you had to stay with her, and instead loitered on the phone with Sungyeol,” Sungjong critical gaze upon his best friend says it all.

The other just shrugs; “My mom did feel sick, but she was lying around loaded with painkillers, so I had nothing to do.” He’s chewing a gum in his mouth, looking indifferent, and it makes Sungjong’s frown deepen further.

Before Sungjong could open his mouth to scold him, Woohyun suddenly stops right in front the three of them.

“Hi,” he says quickly.

Sungjong bows a little, and Myungsoo completely ignores him.

“What?” Sungyeol says, trying to sound as rude as he can. Woohyun furrows his eyebrows at him. “Can we talk?” He grabs him by the arm.

“Again with this? I’m busy.” Sungyeol tries to shake him off.

“Sungyeol.” There’s a certain threat lying behind Woohyun’s tone, although he doesn’t look angry; like his mom when she tells him not to touch the freshly baked creampuffs.

Before he can actually pull Sungyeol away, Myungsoo speaks; “He kind of promised to have lunch with us in the yard, so reschedule all the talking for another day.” He pops a balloon with his bubblegum right in front of Woohyun’s face.

Sungyeol bites his lip, but can’t contain the snicker from coming out.

Woohyun glares at him.  “It’s important.” Okay, now he’s angry. He pursues his lips to a thin-line, which is - Sungyeol knows from past experience - a clear indication that he’s about to snap.

“Yeah, well, I’m not available for your every commend.” Sungyeol sighs; “I’ll be there in a minute,” he says to Myungsoo.

Woohyun pulls him into an empty classroom.

“Don’t tell me that’s your new boyfriend.”

Sungyeol rubs the place where Woohyun held his arm. “As a matter of fact, he is.” He says proudly.

Woohyun rubs his face in frustration.

Sungyeol feels accomplished just from the expression on his face.

“Are you doing this to anger me?! Is that what this is all about?”

Well, yes. Sungyeol continues to nurse his arm and feign indifference.

“Alright, I’m angry! Now go break up with him.”

“No. Why should I break up with him? Myungsoo is nice, and unlike you he actually thinks we’re in a relationship-“

“Am I supposed to believe that? You probably don’t even know his last name,”

“Of course, I do. It’s Kim.” He argues.

“How about his favorite color? Or his birth date? How long do you even know him? Two days?”

Okay, fine, it did seem weird that he didn’t know that. Instead of answering, Sungyeol crosses his hands. “I like him.” He simply says. “I don’t care what his favorite color is. Besides, it’s not like you dated Kim Sunggyu for a year before you permitted his tongue down your throat. Something you do with every friend of yours, apparently. ”

Woohyun lets out an exasperated growl, but Sungyeol isn’t done yet. Oh, no… he’s just getting started; “By the way, nice that you tell Hoya that you’re dating someone while your experimenting buddy doesn’t know anything.”

“I went out with Sunggyu a couple of times without even knowing we’re on a date… I didn’t expect to like him so much! I wanted to tell you this sooner, that I like someone, and that he gives me butterflies and… but then there was finals - and it’s not like we did anything anyway-“

Sungyeol snorts. “I just realized how pathetic it is of me to listen to your excuses.”

“Okay, you know what?! Be angry at me all you want, in fact, here, slap me or hit me or whatever makes you feel better - but don’t go hooking up with some stranger you have no idea about!”

Sungyeol feels the triumph surging through his body. “You’re jealous, aren’t you?”

“What?”

“Admit it.” He crosses his hands on his chest. “You expected me to crawl after you and beg you to come back together. And if things won’t work out with Sunggyu, you’ll always have a second option.”

“Didn’t you even listen to what I just said? Kim Myungsoo is bad news!”

“Says who?”

“Everybody!”

Sungyeol frowns.

“Look,” Woohyun tries to start over, trying to act calmer. “Let’s just say that the guys Myungsoo’s hanging out with aren’t what you and I consider good company. And don’t get me started about the rumors around school; that he’s a drug-dealer and that he has connections to the mafia-“

Sungyeol can’t help but burst out laughing. “Mafia? Who? Myungsoo? The guy who drinks water with a straw?”

“I’m serious! Sunggyu said--”

“I don’t care what Sunggyu said! And since when you’re one to believe rumors? You know what? I like Myungsoo, and if you’re so frustrated about me having a boyfriend, you shouldn’t have dumped me in the first place.”

“Are you still hung up on that? Is that why you’re dragging someone around calling him your boyfriend?”

Ugh, stupid Woohyun who knows everything about him! That is exactly why you never get involved with your best friend!

“No, I’m not hung up on that!”  He blurts something out as fast as he can. “Myungsoo is my boyfriend whether you like it or not!” He slams the door after himself.

He had imagined rubbing it in Woohyun’s face a little more… reliving? But instead he feels petty and immature. Well, who cares? Woohyun can stuff it.

But no glorious celebrating occurs on his way to the yard like he imagined it thousands of times in his head. Nobody even opens a bottle of champagne to toast for Woohyun’s jealousy and the end of Kim Sunggyu. There are no posters with his victorious grin hanging and no confetti thrown around.

And to make it worse, it feels like he’s carrying a heavy burden on his back.

All he thinks about is Woohyun finding out that he hired Myungsoo. It is a bit suspicious that the only definite thing he knows about Myungsoo is that his last name is Kim. Maybe Myungsoo really is some kind of a drug-dealer. He is creepy, all.

Nah, he’s just a really weird 17 year old teen. Or is he 16? Sungjong said he’s 16. Oh, god, he’s in a fake relationship with a kid!

ldquo;I’m going to buy drinks. You want something, Hyung?” Sungjong stands up and cleans his uniform pants from dried grass.

It’s a sunny day, and half of the school is in the yard, sitting on the lawn and the picnic tables, enjoying the weather. Sungyeol might have enjoyed it if Woohyun hadn’t ruined it a few minutes ago.

“Ummm... I want-“

“Red vitamin water for me,” Myungsoo cuts him off. Sungyeol hisses at him; “Americano in a can is fine,” he decides. Sungjong nods, before going off towards the vending machine.

“Well?”

“Well, what?” Sungyeol looks back to him.

“He seemed really angry. Mission accomplished?”

Sungyeol hums, caressing the grass with his hand. With a sudden move, he looks up to see Myungsoo’s face; “How old are you?”

Myungsoo looks like he’s not following him. “17. Why?”

Sungyeol takes a deep breath. “Good, great. And your favorite color?”

He makes a face. “He didn’t buy it, did he?”

Sungyeol sighs and slumps on the log behind him.

“Well, why’d you expect? Why would a guy like me be with an ugly guy like you? It’s absurd.”

“Asshole.” Sungyeol plucks some grass and throws it at Myungsoo. “Did it ever occur to you it might be your terrific acting skills, Honey-bunny?”

Myungsoo chuckles and leans back on his hands, enjoying the sun.

He looks kind of handsome from this angle, closing his eyes and lifting his chin. He has a nice chin.

Sungyeol shifts in his place, stubbornly deciding to look at him from another angle so he’ll look uglier. Ugly, ugly Myungsoo.

Myungsoo opens his eyes, and straightens; “Alright, then. Let’s go on a date.”

Sungyeol isn’t sure what to answer to that except a stupid basic; “What?”

“Let’s go on a date, and get to know each other better.”

“Not a real date-date, right?”

Myungsoo looks at him weirdly, before sighing; “You want this to be believable, right?”

Sungyeol nods.

“Well, then, make sure Woohyun knows we’re going on a date. Oh, and tell him I’m a good kisser... or better yet, brag about my skills in bed and how much you’re going to enjoy this date.”

“Skills in bed? What, you get extra points for being flexible or something?”

Myungsoo smirks at him; “Wouldn’t you like to know?”

Sungyeol hits him and makes a face.

His cheeks burn.

This sun is seriously making his skin hot, what the hell is up with that.
