[There is a boy with immaculately neat clothing and strange black hair marked with three white stripes, sat precisely in the middle of the screen with a notably symmetrical background, the books on the shelf and other items in the room meticulously arranged into mirror images of their partners.]

My greetings to the inhabitants of this fine ( Read more... )

At this point, boy, the health of the plants is more important than the presentation. I'm sure the hedge can stand to be uneven for a while onger while I make sure that it lives through the winter.

No, madame, I do not believe it can, or at least, I feel highly uncomfortable suffering the knowledge that it is so... lopsided. [He looks rather ill whilst saying this.]

A dying hedge will be even more uneven, you realise.

At least it will be temporarily in keeping with its partner, and if it dies then the problem could simply be solved by its removal. I see no problem with this.

[She's looking at the topiary, then faces the computer.]

...Y'really can't tell, yanno.

... Obviously you aren't looking carefully enough.

[She moves to right up near the bush]

Hmm...nope, nothing! Do you have, like, crazy strong vision as a power or something? I mean, I seriously don't see it.

How can you not see it?! That twig, the one three centimetres aboves your head; it is clearly almost five entire inches higher than the one of the bush on the other side.

What about the possibility it is meant to be asymmetric for the artistic effect?

Reply

flawlessymmetry December 29 2009, 21:23:33 UTC
... the aim of art is to be aesthetically pleasing, is it not? I cannot see how something that is unsymmetrical and disorderly could ever be considered as 'pleasing'.

Tastes vary.

Picasso and all the art critics that love him would somehow disagree with you.

Apparently so...

Escher, on the other hand, would side with me on saying that you would need a Spanish civil war and copious amounts of Spanish wine to find that sort of work 'art'.

Your hair's whiter on the left, y'know.

I know, I so imperfect, I don't deserve to be here! I don't even deserve to be ALIVE goddamnit...

...Are. Are you okay? I mean, it's just hair. You could shave it if it bugs you that much.

You don't understand! That would throw off my entire physique, besides, a shaven head? Do you really think I would choose that form of hair stylisation?

You have quite the attention to detail.

...What exactly does one learn at a Death Weapon Meister Academy?

Reply

flawlessymmetry December 29 2009, 21:21:44 UTC
... How to meister a death weapon.

What do they teach here? Evidently not common sense...

usedpoisonsting December 29 2009, 22:08:12 UTC
Yes, that's rather clear from the name, isn't it? I was expecting a bit more in the way of specifics.

As for what they teach here, most of it is a waste of time better spent on loftier pursuits, although perhaps it may be of use to you if you're obtuse enough to miss the meaning of my statement.

Oh, I assure you I understood the question, I was simply rather hoping that consideration of the name would be specific enough in as of itself. *sigh* A death weapon is a mutant who can turn themselves into a weapon that matches a technician mutant's ability to channel 'soul energy'- a form of mental blast. The study of the team work required to maximise the abilities of both is what the academy specialised in.

Simple, isn't it?
