Saw Inception last night. Very satisfying on many levels, although I think I was expecting a bigger twist or gotcha at the end. Also, for all the trailer footage of folding up Paris, they didn't seem to emphasize the dream-state very much; except for the very awesome hotel scenes, it was more or less realistic. Bottom line: It was bad, but it wasn't that bad. There were some serious flaws, and being forewarned, I think I manged to figure out a bunch of them, but "worst movie of the year"? Saw Iron Man 2 this afternoon. Enjoyed it. Thumbs up. It was loud, it was flashy, it was comic-booky. Perhaps it didn't quite carry the emotional depth of the first one, but that's because the first one had the origin story, and Iron Man's got a pretty good origin story. I finally figured out the best way (for me) to watch the new season of Doctor Who -- iTunes has it for $2 per episode. It's $3 per episode in HD, which I gave some serious thought to, since I'm sitting much closer to my PC screen than I would be to my TV, but in the end I couldn't justify paying 50% more for something that I'll most likely buy all ( Read more... )
