How to waste a flying bison

Bottom line: It was bad, but it wasn't that bad. There were some serious flaws, and being forewarned, I think I manged to figure out a bunch of them, but "worst movie of the year"? I kind of doubt that, not when there's an Adam Sander & co. gross-out flick still to come. It was disappointing, but it was far from the worst movie I've seen. I ( Read more... )

What did Sparky think? I've heard a lot of bad reviews from us grown-ups, but I'm curious on hearing many of the problems whether they'd be less important, or even more so, for the younger fans.

Sparky doesn't take after me in the verbosity department, so his initial review was "pretty good." He didn't have any difficulty following the story, but he acknowledges that he already knew the plot. His only complaint about the characters was that "Sokka wasn't funny enough." On the whole, he says he prefers the cartoon. For the summer so far, he liked it better than Karate Kid, but not as much as Toy Story 3.

Shaun Toub is fantastic as Uncle Iroh, and that's no mean feat, because Iroh is easily the most awesome character in the series.

Oh, man, I'm six episodes into Season Three and Bad Ass Iroh is doing one arm pull ups in prison and I hope to God Zuko comes to his senses and does the right thing because I don't want to have to see Iroh kick his ass.
