Smackdown Shadooby and Princess Gadget Kitty Go-Go have left my home, and are now living in the swank and posh residence of my parents. They went there after the hurricane, and just never came home. Ike is coming and Houston is cowering. Galveston is going under, Boliver Penisula is gone, and I'm watching the flood map, waiting to see what's going to happen next. I pulled out of my place, and I'm hunkering down at my parents' place. They went on up to Dallas, but left me plenty of food, supplies, and augmented by my booze, I'm all set. :D ( Read more... ) -

Hmm...Hurricane Ike is coming to Houston, and we don't have any party favors up yet.
I stocked up, though. Enough canned goods to last me two weeks. I have my camping propane stove and extra bottles of propane. The freezer is full of ice, and I'll run to the gas station in the morning for more ice (if they have any). I've got a full tank of gas ( Read more... ) -
Another part of my childhood gone.
I sold my grandmother's second house today. We needed the money to help pay for my grandmother's care at her swanky 'golden years hotel'. (All kidding aside, it IS pretty damn nice. She's got a two bedroom apartment, all utilities paid, an 300 cable channels. Plus all meals. AND an on call nurse and doctor. Oh, and all her meds are included.)

Bah, no hurricane
All that prep work and planning for nothing. It's not even raining hard. I think I saw a wind gust for about 25mph earlier, but other than that, nothing. Just misting/drizzling, but nothing worse. Of course, some are saying the worst is yet to come, so who knows ( Read more... ) -
Holy cow, it's a hurricane?
Where did this thing come from? First I heard about it was around lunch time when I went to store to get lunch. It was packed! People everywhere. Lines at the gas pumps backed up 6 or 7 cars deep for each pump. I was a might perplexed. I'm off work today, and I'm feeling guilty. I probably shouldn't, since I requested this day off, and it was approved, but I still feel 'bad' for not going into work.
