Room 238 [Sunday Afternoon]

If someone could cling to a room, John would be doing so. But, since he can't, he settling for hugging doors and appliances in between throwing the last of his things in bags.

He'd miss 238. And other things. But 238 mostly. Maybe.

After leaving the gym, Jack headed back to the second floor. Since he'd said goodbye to Aeryn, he figured he should probably say goodbye to John, as well. Matched pair and all that.

Which would be why he was standing in the door of room 238. "I understand goodbyes are in order."

"Looks like," John said, turning around and letting go of the fridge. "You haven't been secretly living in my room since you left, right?"

Jack grinned. "I'm hurt you didn't notice. Who do you think kept stealing all your socks?" he asked. "I can go if you want some alone time with your fridge."

"The washing machine," he said, smiling. "Welcome back."

Animal happened to be walking by when he past John's room and saw the boxes.

And John.

And for once he's able to put two things together and figure out what's happening.

"JOHN GO BYE-BYE?"

Animal things about this for a second then stations himself at the door putting his muppet arms between them as a blockade.

He then whips his head back and forth so fast a normal human would get whiplash.

"NUH-UH! NUH-UH!"

John grinned and said, "Yeah, I gotta go. Places to go, people to see, girls to marry."

Animal shook his head in despair and left the room.

20 minutes later John would probably here the sounds of music drifting up to his window.

If he looked outside he would see Animal holding a boombox over his head. Why he's wearing a trenchcoat in this hot weather is probably something you shouldn't ask about.

John did look out the window. And he stared. And then turned away to rub at his eyes. It was just dust! Just dust!

Luke leaned against the door jamb, eyes serious.

"This totally blows," he said with authority.

"I know," John said, eyes focused on the floor. "I don't wanna go."

"And me saying 'so don't' won't help things," Luke replied softly, stepping closer, "but I kind of want to anyway."

"I almost want you to," John said, finally turning to look at Luke. "We're not going far though. That's good, right?"

Late in the afternoon, Anakin appeared in the doorway, eyes shadowed with grief.

"You'll be careful," he said.

It wasn't a suggestion.

"I will," John said, standing up a little straighter. "I promise. You have my word."

"I don't have that many friends," Anakin said quietly. "Losing them..." he shook his head.

"You'll be careful."

"We will," he said, nodding. "And you can come visit whenever you want. I mean that. Whenever you need to. We can have Monopoly tournaments."

Rory leaned against the door frame. "Did you know it's only 134.90 miles from New Haven to Cambridge?" she asked by way of greeting.

"Right around the corner," John said, turning to smile at Rory. "We can have fort parties on the weekend."

"My dormmates will be off at keggers, and they'll invite me, and I'll say, 'No, I have a fort party,' and it'll get around Yale that Rory Gilmore is secretly a wild child who goes to parties that no one's heard of, and does some kind of rave-like drug called 'fort,'" Rory said thoughtfully.

"Does that make me a dealer?" John asked thoughtfully. "Or a pimp?"
