If someone could cling to a room, John would be doing so. But, since he can't, he settling for hugging doors and appliances in between throwing the last of his things in bags.

He'd miss 238. And other things. But 238 mostly. Maybe.

After leaving the gym, Jack headed back to the second floor. Since he'd said goodbye to Aeryn, he figured he should probably say goodbye to John, as well. Matched pair and all that.

Which would be why he was standing in the door of room 238. "I understand goodbyes are in order."

"Looks like," John said, turning around and letting go of the fridge. "You haven't been secretly living in my room since you left, right?"

Jack grinned. "I'm hurt you didn't notice. Who do you think kept stealing all your socks?" he asked. "I can go if you want some alone time with your fridge."

"The washing machine," he said, smiling. "Welcome back."

"Thanks. I'm not staying long, heading back in a month or so," he said, laughing a little. "You know I only came back to say goodbye. Three thousand years, just for you."

"Hold me, Jack. That's the sweetest thing someone's ever said to me," John deadpanned.

Jack cracked up. "Much as I would love to hold you close and give you a proper goodbye, I have no desire to be dead five seconds afterwards."

"Scared of a girl, Jack?" John asked.

"Hell yeah," he said with a grin. "Lots of them, because I'm not an idiot. But if you really want to take the chance..." He let the sentence trail off and smirked.

"Hell no," John said, laughing, "because I'm scared of a girl too. Especially mine."

"Aeryn is something, all right." Jack suddenly missed Sam. A lot. "I ran into her in the gym, that was how I knew you were leaving."

"Figured she'd go there and leave me with all the heavy lifting," John said, shaking his head. "Don't think she won't come find you just to shoot you. I think it makes her feel better."

"I should be so lucky," he chuckled. "Want a hand with your heavy lifting? I'm in the mood to wear off a bit of energy, and the usual way is sadly not on offer at the moment."

"Not in this room, at least," John said but nodded to a few boxes. "Just moving them together so we can get them out of the room easier tomorrow."

"I think I can mange that." Jack grinned as he walked in and hefted a box. "So, Cambridge, huh?"

"MIT," John adds. "Rocket science."
