If someone could cling to a room, John would be doing so. But, since he can't, he settling for hugging doors and appliances in between throwing the last of his things in bags.

He'd miss 238. And other things. But 238 mostly. Maybe.

Rory leaned against the door frame. "Did you know it's only 134.90 miles from New Haven to Cambridge?" she asked by way of greeting.

"Right around the corner," John said, turning to smile at Rory. "We can have fort parties on the weekend."

"My dormmates will be off at keggers, and they'll invite me, and I'll say, 'No, I have a fort party,' and it'll get around Yale that Rory Gilmore is secretly a wild child who goes to parties that no one's heard of, and does some kind of rave-like drug called 'fort,'" Rory said thoughtfully.

"Does that make me a dealer?" John asked thoughtfully. "Or a pimp?"

"I think it makes you both," Rory said wisely.

"Just more things to put on my resume," John quipped. "Come to wish me luck?"

"Something like that," Rory said. "I just saw Aeryn a few minutes ago. At this rate I'm going to be the last alumnus left here."

"You'll still have people around who care about you," John said and it was pretty clear who he meant.

"That whole situation is...weird," Rory said, shaking her head.

"Is it?" John mock glared. "Do I need to knock him around? Pull his hair? Kick some sense into him? I totally will!"

"You're leaving," Rory said woefully. "And that was Aeryn's job, anyway."

"But I'm not going far," he said, frowning. "Just a few hours north and then a few hours away when you come up for school. Do you really think you're not going to see us? Hello, wedding planner that I need to fire eighty more times."

"Aeryn says you can't!" Rory protested. "Also I think she might be giving a little on the idea of a giant cake."

"Oooh!" He really wanted a giant cake. "What about the ball pit?"

"No ball pit," Rory said flatly.

"Party pooper," he said melodramatically. "Powder blue tuxes?"
