[RL with Zechs]

Tyki tried to be sceptical, he really tried.

He'd tried to make sure he covered all of his bases, too. But the offer was just too good, and she said she didn't want anything in return but to watch the fall-out ( Read more... )

"I know you are not a fool," Zechs said, trying to get his head wrapped around this situation. She just wanted to watch Tyki? Watch Tyki do what, exactly? Murder Exorcists as his Noah used to command him to? Command an army of akuma? Take vengeance upon that boy Exorcist, Allen Walker? None of these things Tyki expressed the slightest interest in doing. His lover had even said he didn't want to kill people any longer, though Zechs knew - like himself - he could and would if necessary. But what did Eris expect of the Noah?

His mind pulled itself into knots. If she just expected what Tyki would actually do - go out with his more dangerous friends, cause mischief and stick his nose in where it didn't belong, and bait people who quite frankly displeased Zechs as well - then it'd be similarly chaotic to suddenly take those powers away from him, he feared. He remembered Rufus' random shot at Tyki's back, or Dark's barrage of feathers. Either of those situations had absolutely nothing to do with Tyki's world or their war, but would have ( ... )

Tyki hadn't yet allowed himself to think about the war, and killing Exorcists. He wasn't thinking about his home world at all, in fact. He hadn't been back there since the trip to Cyril's house, though he kept thinking he should pop in and check in with the Duke, simply to keep from arousing suspicion.

But one thing or another kept interfering, and he hadn't been back. He still didn't feel much like killing anyone, though he had joked about such things with that Demon Queen just earlier today.

He kissed Zechs lightly, trying to reassure him. "Nor do I," he admitted. "But...she offered me this, with no strings attached. I... I could not say no. Would you have had me refuse?"

He certainly hoped the answer would be no. "I haven't even felt Noah stirring. Perhaps I have my powers, but from a different source."

Zechs rested his head against Tyki's shoulder, after kissing the man lightly in return. He knew it would have been nearly impossible for him to say no. Just as he knew 'no strings attached' was likely to conceal some price all the same. Knowing which answer the Noah wanted to hear, but not having the ability to lie to him now, he said softly, "From perhaps any other god, my dear heart, I would have encouraged you to take such an offer with both hands. Such a gift easily given could be easily taken away. I ... I do not wish to see you in such a situation ( ... )

Tyki was trying very hard not to feel irritated that Zechs wasn't as happy about this as he was. He knew that his lover was a worrywart, and only the fact that he also knew he had only his best interests at heart stopped him from getting annoyed.

"I...I know," he said, struggling to see this from the same logical perspective as Zechs. "But if the powers are taken away again, I won't be any worse off. I...I might think that it would be best to be cautious, so that I don't find myself in some untenable situation."

He frowned. "And yet, I feel that if I merely act as myself, she will be entertained enough so that there will be no desire in her to take this gift away. She claimed to like me from the very beginning. I doubt another god would much care if I had my powers or not, and some would prefer I did not."

"Caution would be fair advice to follow," Zechs agreed slowly, trying his best not to take this completely negatively. He knew Tyki often had a devil-may-care attitude towards life, and tended to take a more optimistic view. By now, he realized this wasn't from any lack of foresight or disregard to good sense. He was certain Tyki had thought this through before accepting.

That still didn't change the fact the Noah had made a different decision than he would have, but it explained why Zechs couldn't fault him for it at all. And why he was fighting so hard internally at dampening his worry. Tyki had been so joyful. 'The most amazing', he had said. He was so happyZechs' mind kept imagining scenarios where his ability suddenly wouldn't work for him, and his gut clenched again ( ... )
