MFU Fic Bingo: F is for The Final Affair
The Final Affair by elfin begins with Napoleon receiving news of Illya's
apparent death. We learn in short order that Illya is not dead, but it takes the rest of the story to understand what actually has happened.
I liked this fic moderately well. It has an engaging plot, and its unusual take on the world of canon makes it an interesting read. Yet I wished that some of its ideas had been implemented with more nuance. As written, the fic feels out of sync with canon in a way that I think is unnecessary to the story it is telling and weakens its impact. 23,308 words. NS/IK slash.
