8/17: I am grateful that I am having a calmer day at work today so that I have a chance to catch up on some of the busy work that I've been avoiding for so long. It's a relief to be able to cross some of this off my plate.

This last week was weird. Work only on Monday and Friday because of travel for the funeral. It threw me all kinds of off my game and by Saturday I was simply drained. The retrenchments were announced today. I am not one of them, thank goodness, however a number of people I like were and others have had their work/job descriptions completely changed. This is a sad day.

edited to add: Damn it, a couple of them are some of my favorite co-workers. Blast.

Every once in awhile work throws me a curve ball - like today. When I walked in to learn that the training that the boss "didn't need help with" actually, yeah he did and he was leaving at 3pm to boot. As most of you know, I work at a Jewish organization. And tonight begins Rosh Hashana - the Jewish New Year. So our offices close at 1pm. Now I've got just about an hour and a half commute each way to work, so that would have been 3 hours of traveling for 4 hours of work. This math just does not work for me ( Read more... )

8/28: Today I stuffed binders for a program in September. Those binders are now done, and except for adding the binder spine when it is printed, I don't have to worry about them again. It is work no longer on my plate because it's done. I'm incredibly grateful that something is done.

If you spend several months telling me that something is not happening and that I am not responsible for finding something and then turn around and tell me that it is happening and I am responsible... do not expect me to be pleasantness and light about it.  You've just completely fucked me over, thank you very much.

The last couple of days have been truly long here at work.  The decisions have been made about who is being admitted to the next big training program.  And we can only take 18 out of the 36 who applied, so the last two days my two poor bosses have been on the phone with very happy people and very very very very unhappy people.
