Poor kid had come down with the head cold from hell and it had managed to scare the crap out of both Adrienne and himself. He glanced up as Ad came into the living room, waggling his phone at her. "Nereida asked us to come out dancing. Thought it sounded fun."
Adrienne grinned, propping Alden up on her hip. "Whatcha think, kiddo? Wanna go out?"
Alden nodded fiercely. "Mama go? Pease?"
"Well, how can I say no to that?" She ruffled Alden's hair and then reached out to do the same to Jase's. "I'll go get ready, if you'll watch him. Be down in a half hour."
Jase nodded, taking Alden when she passed him over. "TV time, kiddo," he told the toddler, texting Nereida back. All three of us will be there in a bit. Thanks for the inviteA good part of an hour later, they walked into the club and he ( ... )

He tugged lightly on a strand of her hair, his smile softening as he curled it around his finger. "I should let you get back out there, you came to dance," he said softly, dropping his hand. "But save me some time to show me a few steps, okay? Or oh. Did you want to say hi to Adrienne first?" He glanced around for his cousin, spotting her and Alden already at a table. "Looks like they're getting comfortable for the evening.

Calling a goodbye to her uncle, she plopped into the driver's seat, then stopped. Gently biting her lip, she leaned back as she picked her 'phone out of her purse and pulled up her contacts. You busy tonight?

If he could do something with her tonight, it would be great, he thought. He always wanted to go out with her. He didn't have an active social life, and besides, he would admit if only deep in his mind he was a bit besotted with her.

Dancing, huh? He'd been wanting to dance with her ever since they'd gone out with Fi and Derrick and that night had blown to hell. He went in to his room and quickly threw on something nicer, trousers and a blue button up shirt.

He texted her back, telling her he'd be there. He just needed to shower and change first.

She hadn't expected him to join them and was pleasantly surprised when he said he would be. She glared at Jase when he stole her phone, pouting slightly as he chuckled at her. "Your Co's joining us, Ald'," she mock-whispered to her son, laughing when he started squirming excitedly.

He drove to the club and parked, heading inside and looking around for either Adrienne or Alden. He thought they'd be easier to spot. He hadn't been out like this in a while.

"Indeed, her Papa certainly feels like a big stick would be a good idea," Jake said dryly. "I swear, the dress did not look like that on the hanger, but like she said, I could not take back my permission after I gave it." It wasn't that it was scandalous--it was more than long enough, she wasn't wearing heels, and it didn't plunge in anyway, it just... showed curves he hadn't really expected to be there.
Jake nodded. He would hold the table down for everyone. "Of course we will," Star said, taking for granted that her Dad would dance somehow. He usually did with her. Star stayed steady at his shoulder, an automatic thing these days, as they made their way back there.
"You look lovely too, by the way," Jake told Re with a smile.

She laughed softly at the tone of his voice coupled with the obvious love and apprehension on his face. "I can appreciate that from both sides of the coin, having a protective Papá of my own, and a small cousin who'll be discovering boys in a few years." Winking at Star, she led them through the press, the journey mercifully short since she had scored a rather good table. Automatically pulling a chair away, Nereida drew back to let them both pass and settle how they would. She dipped her head to the side with a smile at the praise, glancing around at the other tables before looking back at them. "Thank you. Will you be comfortable here? We can move if you'd like somewhere else."

After receiving Nereida's text message Devri had sent her friend one back, thanking her for the invite and letting her know that maybe she would show. After that she had sent Laine a text asking her fellow ballerina if she wanted to go out dancing, since she had nixed her earlier option of extra rehearsal time.
Now in the club though, Devri wasn't sure she had made the right decision. She spotted Nereida on the dance floor already, catching her friend's attention she smiled and waved. Making a mental note to find out if the other woman's dance partner was the infamous Jase she had heard about on their shopping trip.
Fiddling with her dress as she made her way over to a table. Devri wondered if maybe she should have gone with the tank top and jeans. She'd have to give Laine a hard time once ( ... )

Deciding to leave her hair up in the lazy knot she’d been wearing for the better part of the day, she pulled her favorite black tank dress out of the closet and a pair of aqua sandals to match, hoping nobody would look at her feet too closely. She didn’t have time to paint her nails and there was an ugly bruise covering the top of her left foot from where Kris had stepped on her during rehearsal.
Once in the club she search the crowd for Dev’s familiar face; spotting her at a table she weaved her way over. “You wore it, love!” She exclaimed happily, and she had been right, the dress was so much better looking on Devri.

“Though, the whole point of going out dancing is to dance, and it’ll be bloody difficult to do seated at a table.” Laine bumped her shoulder against Dev’s playfully and debated nudging her towards the dance floor.
