By the time she'd gotten the note that class for tonight had been canceled, she'd already decided that this week was Completely Fired. )
After receiving Nereida's text message Devri had sent her friend one back, thanking her for the invite and letting her know that maybe she would show. After that she had sent Laine a text asking her fellow ballerina if she wanted to go out dancing, since she had nixed her earlier option of extra rehearsal time.
Now in the club though, Devri wasn't sure she had made the right decision. She spotted Nereida on the dance floor already, catching her friend's attention she smiled and waved. Making a mental note to find out if the other woman's dance partner was the infamous Jase she had heard about on their shopping trip.
Fiddling with her dress as she made her way over to a table. Devri wondered if maybe she should have gone with the tank top and jeans. She'd have to give Laine a hard time once ( ... )

Deciding to leave her hair up in the lazy knot she’d been wearing for the better part of the day, she pulled her favorite black tank dress out of the closet and a pair of aqua sandals to match, hoping nobody would look at her feet too closely. She didn’t have time to paint her nails and there was an ugly bruise covering the top of her left foot from where Kris had stepped on her during rehearsal.
Once in the club she search the crowd for Dev’s familiar face; spotting her at a table she weaved her way over. “You wore it, love!” She exclaimed happily, and she had been right, the dress was so much better looking on Devri.

“Though, the whole point of going out dancing is to dance, and it’ll be bloody difficult to do seated at a table.” Laine bumped her shoulder against Dev’s playfully and debated nudging her towards the dance floor.

"Is that the point?" Devri teased, smirking as Laine bumped her shoulder. "First I need someone to show me how, I've never been salsa dancing." She replied honestly. Ballet was one thing, but she had never branched out much further then that.
Her grin was bright as Nereida hurried over to their table, laughing at her friend's comment. "Thank you, the dress is all thanks to Laine though. She gave it too me and made it pretty clear I was to wear it the next time I went out." She replied as she returned Nereida's hug. "And I figured I'd have to do something to even compare to how amazing you look." Devri waved a hand in Nereida's direction, indicating the other woman's ( ... )

Laine watched the interaction between the two women then took Nereida’s outstretched hand when it was offered . “Laine, and I wouldn’t have missed this.” She replied with a smile, and then inclined her head towards Devri. “I needed to see that this one is actually capable of going out and having fun, though I think she’s intending to use the excuse that she doesn’t know how to salsa to avoid dancing tonight.”

Grinning conspiratorially at Laine, she leaned in a bit. "Ah, but I'm a dance teacher -- she can't use that line on me, because I'll just take her out on the floor and show her what to do." Winking at Devri, she waggled her eyebrows. "You don't have to do a lot of dancing, but I'm claiming at least one, so be warned."

Laine laughed at what Nereida said and Devri’s response. “Love, you were already seated when I came in. It was an easy assumption to make. And because every other time I’ve invited you out dancing you act as if it’s the worst thing you could be doing.”

An impish grin lighting her face, she leaned in closer to Laine. "See the guy in the black button-down and gray pants over there? Total toe-masher. Thinks he's Fred Astaire, but I've managed to avoid him so far, after seeing the way girls have been wincing as they go around with him. Oh, and the guy at the bar in the green t-shirt and jeans, talking to the brunette in the yellow dress -- he seems to like pulling weird footwork all of a sudden, and I nearly got my leg kicked out from under me. Try not to dance with him." She shrugged expansively, laughing gaily. "Other than that, have at 'em, ladies. Though the guy over there, in the white button-down and khakis? He dances like a dream. And so nice! He's a regular, he said." Tossing her hair back over her shoulder ( ... )

She waggled her eyebrows at Laine as the other woman rose. "Have fun! Let me know if you find any other really good dancers, because I definitely haven't met them all. Just did a little bit of recon."
