By the time she'd gotten the note that class for tonight had been canceled, she'd already decided that this week was Completely Fired. )
Poor kid had come down with the head cold from hell and it had managed to scare the crap out of both Adrienne and himself. He glanced up as Ad came into the living room, waggling his phone at her. "Nereida asked us to come out dancing. Thought it sounded fun."
Adrienne grinned, propping Alden up on her hip. "Whatcha think, kiddo? Wanna go out?"
Alden nodded fiercely. "Mama go? Pease?"
"Well, how can I say no to that?" She ruffled Alden's hair and then reached out to do the same to Jase's. "I'll go get ready, if you'll watch him. Be down in a half hour."
Jase nodded, taking Alden when she passed him over. "TV time, kiddo," he told the toddler, texting Nereida back. All three of us will be there in a bit. Thanks for the invite.
A good part of an hour later, they walked into the club and he started looking around for Nereida, giving Ad' a thankful grin when she pointed her out on the dance floor. "Do you mind...?" He gave her another grin and placed a kiss on her cheek before making his way to the closest corner of the dance floor.

He was good, and when it was over, she found herself not sitting still as his friends claimed her for the dances after that. Suddenly catching sight of Jase and Adrienne over her current partner's shoulder, she waved slightly before tuning back into the music. "Should I hand you off?" her partner teased, twirling her a bit. At her grin and the shake of her head, he laughed. "Just checking. Don't want to keep you if you're waiting on someone."
"I invited a bunch of friends, and they're the first to get here." Nereida pulled close with the next step. "But I promised el guapo I'd show him some of the steps, which is why he's waiting." As the song ended, she smiled up at him. "Thanks for the dance; I'll have to look you up again." Stepping away and making her way over to Jase, Nereida waved again. "Hey, you made it!"

He tugged lightly on a strand of her hair, his smile softening as he curled it around his finger. "I should let you get back out there, you came to dance," he said softly, dropping his hand. "But save me some time to show me a few steps, okay? Or oh. Did you want to say hi to Adrienne first?" He glanced around for his cousin, spotting her and Alden already at a table. "Looks like they're getting comfortable for the evening.

He chuckled as she blew a laugh to Ad', giving his cousin a wink as Nereida tugged him out onto the dance floor. "Okay, okay. But no yelling at me if I step on your toes," he murmured, watching her feet carefully.

He let her guide him through the steps, catching on quickly. "Not too hard," he said, glancing up at her. "I think I got it from here." She was gorgeous in her element, he thought, wishing that he was a bit more experienced in dancing. It would be the perfect atmosphere to twirl her out and then dip her and kiss her. Except he was more likely to drop her than dip her.
They finished the dance and he tucked her into his side. "Do you wanna risk another, now that I seem to have figured it out, or would you like to go say hi to Ad' and Ald'?"

As he curled her into him, she thought for a second, then looked over at Adrienne. "I think I'd better go say 'hello,' because I'll probably end up spending a lot of time dancing, and I'd like to at least get a few words in while I can." She smirked at him amiably. "But don't think this gets you off the hook for another dance."

His smiled widened. "My dance card is yours, Nereida. With the exception of dragging Ad' out here after I get a few more pointers from you."
As they approached the table Ad' was at, he caught her giggling at something on her phone and reached over and stole it, waggling it at her before reading the text. "Ah ha!" he murmured. "So he is coming. Good."
Ad' heaved a sigh before smiling at Nereida. "Hola, chica," she greeted, trying to keep the squirming toddler under control.
"Hihihi, Reida!" Alden bounced.

Waving at Adrienne as they came closer, she reached for Alden with a soft laugh. "Hola, mamacita. Don't you look amazing! New dress, or one that needed to come out after a while?"

Adrienne grinned, giving Alden over happily as he almost bounced out of her arms to go to Nereida. "Why, thank you; you look pretty stunning yourself. And it's part of the new line that Jase wants to try out." She stood, giving a small spin so Nereida could see how it fell. "Thoughts?"

Cuddling Alden to her, she smoothed his hair and looked over at Adrienne. "I like it. It clings in just the right places, and y'know, the black and red crisscross pattern is definitely different. Catches the eye right quick. If the other dresses are done as well, I think the line'll be successful." She did a few dance-steps until Alden giggled, then quirked an eyebrow. "Mamacita, will you be offended if I steal your date here for a dance?"

Adrienne grinned, sitting back down. "And it's-" she adjusted the top again "-mostly comfortable. Takes a little getting use to, I suppose." She laughed, watching Alden and Nereida. "Oh, I suppose I'll manage without him," she murmured, glancing back down at her phone and smiling at it. "Just bring him on back here if he-" she gasped slightly as Jase tugged her out of the chair, shaking his head.
"Nope, cuz. Nereida taught me some steps, my turn to take you out on the floor," he told her grinning.
She shook her head, flashing a smile at Nereida. "Well, apparently we'll be joining you on the dance floor then."
