Jase jumped as his cell blared, smiling fondly when he saw the text was from Nereida. He flipped open his phone, tilting his head as he read the message. "Hey, Ad'?" he called, checking his watch. "Think Ald's up for a night out on the town?"

Poor kid had come down with the head cold from hell and it had managed to scare the crap out of both Adrienne and himself. He glanced up as Ad came into the living room, waggling his phone at her. "Nereida asked us to come out dancing. Thought it sounded fun."

Adrienne grinned, propping Alden up on her hip. "Whatcha think, kiddo? Wanna go out?"

Alden nodded fiercely. "Mama go? Pease?"

"Well, how can I say no to that?" She ruffled Alden's hair and then reached out to do the same to Jase's. "I'll go get ready, if you'll watch him. Be down in a half hour."

Jase nodded, taking Alden when she passed him over. "TV time, kiddo," he told the toddler, texting Nereida back. All three of us will be there in a bit. Thanks for the invite.

A good part of an hour later, they walked into the club and he started looking around for Nereida, giving Ad' a thankful grin when she pointed her out on the dance floor. "Do you mind...?" He gave her another grin and placed a kiss on her cheek before making his way to the closest corner of the dance floor.

Smiling into her drink, Nereida put it down and started to type. Awesome! Been so busy that I haven't seen you guys in forever. See you soon! Dropping it back on the table, she did some quick mental math, figuring it'd be a bit before they got there, with getting ready and herding a small boy. So, that gave her time to get into the swing of things, she decided as one of the better dancers came over to ask her to take a turn with him. Nodding as she offered him her hand, she let him lead her to the floor and begin a quick salsa.

He was good, and when it was over, she found herself not sitting still as his friends claimed her for the dances after that. Suddenly catching sight of Jase and Adrienne over her current partner's shoulder, she waved slightly before tuning back into the music. "Should I hand you off?" her partner teased, twirling her a bit. At her grin and the shake of her head, he laughed. "Just checking. Don't want to keep you if you're waiting on someone."

"I invited a bunch of friends, and they're the first to get here." Nereida pulled close with the next step. "But I promised el guapo I'd show him some of the steps, which is why he's waiting." As the song ended, she smiled up at him. "Thanks for the dance; I'll have to look you up again." Stepping away and making her way over to Jase, Nereida waved again. "Hey, you made it!"

Jase grinned down at Nereida as she came up to him. "Couldn't resist, now that the kidlet is healthy again, I thought it would be a good outing." He hugged her quickly. "How have you been, Gorgeous? You look fantastic." She really, really did, he thought, his eyes skimming her form.

He tugged lightly on a strand of her hair, his smile softening as he curled it around his finger. "I should let you get back out there, you came to dance," he said softly, dropping his hand. "But save me some time to show me a few steps, okay? Or oh. Did you want to say hi to Adrienne first?" He glanced around for his cousin, spotting her and Alden already at a table. "Looks like they're getting comfortable for the evening.

Getting up on tiptoe to hug him back, Nereida drew back after a second to look at him with concern. "Alden was sick? When was this? Pobre bebe." She patted his arm, tilting her head. "I came to dance, but I also want to see my friends. And sure I will -- I'll say "hi" to Ad' in a moment." Blowing a cheeky kiss to the other woman as Adrienne caught her eye, she tugged on his wrist. "C'mon; we'll take advantage of there not being a huge crowd yet. It'll give us more room."

"Just a head cold," Jase hastened to reassure her, touched that she was concerned for his nephew. "But it seemed to last forever. He finally kicked it this last week."

He chuckled as she blew a laugh to Ad', giving his cousin a wink as Nereida tugged him out onto the dance floor. "Okay, okay. But no yelling at me if I step on your toes," he murmured, watching her feet carefully.

"And you three survived? Now there's a miracle for you." She grinned mischievously as she led him out. "No yelling; lucky for you that you have an actual teacher to guide you. We'll start simple, no sweat." Staying at his side, she glanced up at him, eyes sparkling. "I'll show you the steps you need to do, so you've got them down before I start throwing my steps into the mix." Putting his hand on her shoulder, and her arm lightly around his waist to guide him, she started slowly so he could watch her feet. After a few repetitions, Nereida looked up curiously. "How's that? Think you can try it with me doing my thing?"

Jase chuckled. "We did. It wasn't pretty there for a little while, neither of us wanted to go in to the shop. First time he little guy has been down and out like that. He's a pretty healthy kid."

He let her guide him through the steps, catching on quickly. "Not too hard," he said, glancing up at her. "I think I got it from here." She was gorgeous in her element, he thought, wishing that he was a bit more experienced in dancing. It would be the perfect atmosphere to twirl her out and then dip her and kiss her. Except he was more likely to drop her than dip her.

They finished the dance and he tucked her into his side. "Do you wanna risk another, now that I seem to have figured it out, or would you like to go say hi to Ad' and Ald'?"

Chuckling softly, she came around in front of him, showing him how to hold her. "Sounds good, then." Winking at him, she started moving, very slowly guiding them more and more onto the dance floor as they danced, figuring he might feel a little better in the middle of things. "You pick this up fast," she said appreciatively. Keeping things simple, since adding flourishes would throw him off for now, Nereida giggled happily as Jase relaxed into the music. "Like that, yeah."

As he curled her into him, she thought for a second, then looked over at Adrienne. "I think I'd better go say 'hello,' because I'll probably end up spending a lot of time dancing, and I'd like to at least get a few words in while I can." She smirked at him amiably. "But don't think this gets you off the hook for another dance."

Jase grinned at her. "And I didn't even step on any of your toes," he said, laughing a little. "And mm, yeah. She's being a bit of a wallflower, I should keep her company." He leaned down to whisper in her ear, "She was texting like a mad woman as we left the house to someone. I have my suspicions that she was inviting Colin to join us. A little birdie informed me that they went out for drinks on his birthday, too."

His smiled widened. "My dance card is yours, Nereida. With the exception of dragging Ad' out here after I get a few more pointers from you."

As they approached the table Ad' was at, he caught her giggling at something on her phone and reached over and stole it, waggling it at her before reading the text. "Ah ha!" he murmured. "So he is coming. Good."

Ad' heaved a sigh before smiling at Nereida. "Hola, chica," she greeted, trying to keep the squirming toddler under control.

"Hihihi, Reida!" Alden bounced.

"Well, that's good! I'm glad they're both getting out and doing stuff." She didn't know if there was a flirtation getting up, but she liked Adrienne - though she didn't know this Colin - and her potentially seeing someone nice was a happy thought. Nereida grinned teasingly at him as they headed towards the table. "You did well, actually; you could probably take her out for a dance and not worry about her feet."

Waving at Adrienne as they came closer, she reached for Alden with a soft laugh. "Hola, mamacita. Don't you look amazing! New dress, or one that needed to come out after a while?"

"You met Colin at my birthday party, I think," he reminded her gently. "The blonde that glued himself to Ad's side for most of the night." He shrugged. "I'll force her out on the floor, of course."

Adrienne grinned, giving Alden over happily as he almost bounced out of her arms to go to Nereida. "Why, thank you; you look pretty stunning yourself. And it's part of the new line that Jase wants to try out." She stood, giving a small spin so Nereida could see how it fell. "Thoughts?"

Okay, she did remember now -- she grimaced a bit in slight chagrin. "Yeah, I did. Augh; I'm claiming the long week going and killing my brain."

Cuddling Alden to her, she smoothed his hair and looked over at Adrienne. "I like it. It clings in just the right places, and y'know, the black and red crisscross pattern is definitely different. Catches the eye right quick. If the other dresses are done as well, I think the line'll be successful." She did a few dance-steps until Alden giggled, then quirked an eyebrow. "Mamacita, will you be offended if I steal your date here for a dance?"

Jase gave a small shrug, leaning down and kissing the top of her head. "Don't worry about it, gorgeous. I'm not gonna tell anyone."

Adrienne grinned, sitting back down. "And it's-" she adjusted the top again "-mostly comfortable. Takes a little getting use to, I suppose." She laughed, watching Alden and Nereida. "Oh, I suppose I'll manage without him," she murmured, glancing back down at her phone and smiling at it. "Just bring him on back here if he-" she gasped slightly as Jase tugged her out of the chair, shaking his head.

"Nope, cuz. Nereida taught me some steps, my turn to take you out on the floor," he told her grinning.

She shook her head, flashing a smile at Nereida. "Well, apparently we'll be joining you on the dance floor then."

"Excellent." She chuckled as Jase towed Ad' to the dance floor, following alongside in a sort of half-walk, half-dance, reveling in the pleased noises Alden was making. Catching his left hand with her right, Nereida started a quick salsa, counting the steps to him as he laughed delightedly. "Having fun, guapo?" She twirled them about, grinning broadly as he dropped his head into her neck. "Do you like to dance, Alden?"
