The island had done it again. Whether it was pure chance or benevolence none of them would ever know, but somehow, someway, the place had seen fit to give them all booze again

Jane had spent many a day within her own room with Lydia, staring at neither the sun nor the brightness of each passing day. She devoted, rather, all her attention to her daughter and the only smiles brought to her face were of innocent joy and none more. It was difficult to be content, for she had lost so much and oh, but she knew others to have lost far more.
When word grew and Jane heard of a gathering of people, she roused herself to her feet and pinched her cheeks for her Mama's sake before collecting Liddy and dressing in their very best. Perhaps she would not find joy upon that day, but were she to make no effort, she would never find peace.
Ysandre saw Jane with her darling Lydia and her heart broke for the poor dear all over again. To have such happiness, such love, only to have it taken from you - Terre d'Ange's queen knew all to well that particular experience. "Jane, my dear," she said warmly, sweeping over to where Jane stood with the baby in her arms and giving her a light kiss to the cheek.
Jane softened, casting her gaze to the ground as she murmured her reverent reply. "Miss Ysandre," she greeted, her voice sounding thick. "It is good to see you."
Ellie had just been talking about parties a week ago, and here one was again. She definitely could get used to them, that was for sure. This one was particularly fun, and she got into the spirit by wearing a feathery mask and a fairly nice outfit.
The alcohol was tempting, especially with how she'd been feeling lately - she was starting to miss Devon to the point of not being able to ignore it - but, for the moment, she stayed away from it and got some food instead. It was probably better that way.
Emmy had a frog mask and Toby was in the box for him that Daddy had built so she could carry him around and she had a glass of milk that had left a thick mustache on her top lip. She had one fistful of Lily's skirt, and the other held the wooden Toby.
When she saw Ellie, she waved enthusiastically with her turtle.
Ellie spotted Lily first, then, upon looking down, saw Emmy waving at her. She shot Lily a warm smile before leaning down to be little closer to eye-level with the little girl.
"I wonder who's behind that mask," she said outloud, though it was obvious what the answer was. "Is that Emmy?"
Addison had been passing the doorway to go to the Clinic to get herself some tests to run and there it had been, beckoning and whispering to her like some kind of naughty little imp, as if shouting, 'See, Addison? Just like Joe's, come stuff your face in us'. She was stronger than any muffin.
The booze, on the other hand...well, no one said she was a saint. She'd gone back to change out of her labcoat and into a pair of jeans with a suitable top and she gave in to that siren song of the beers sitting over there on the table.
Adam leaned past the woman at the table to snag a glass and an open bottle of red. It had only been a couple of days, but, already, he was having fond thoughts of the bottle on the counter in the flat. And, according to Angela, it was only going to get worse.
"Excuse me," he said, with a smile, pouring himself a generous glass. "Apparently, you're where the queue starts."
Addison turned curiously, biting back a remark about the 'queue', because that would be impolite and she was trying to be better about those things. Less bitchy-Montgomery, more happy-friendly. She stepped to the side. "I don't want to cause a pile-up," she added ruefully, noting the amount of wine. "Thirsty?"
First there were the clothes, then there were the decorations. It was an unexpected party, but not unwelcome. Jo had found the velvet made her homesick, but the feathers had suited her. So she had gone to the party and was eating and drinking, determined to have a good time.
"Oh, thank you." Jo accepted the beads, pleased to see someone she knew. "I don't have anything for you. I didn't know there was a party on until I came down here."
"That's okay," says Karen, standing on one foot because it feels good. "I just had lots and I thought you'd look pretty with some and I didn't know there was a party either and ShorHor's hiding under the bed um."
The necklace he'd found was probably the tackiest piece of jewelry he'd ever seen, but Asher put it on anyway. Gold boobs were one thing, but gold boobs that lit up were another. The thing was just so fucking terrible that it was great.
Asher would be perfectly content to go the day without anyone actually showing him their tits, though. Those Girls Gone Wild videos were even tackier than the necklace, without the added comedy of cyborg boobs.
He was in a good mood, more or less, which probably had a lot to do with the free flowing alcohol. He told himself he wasn't going to drink himself as stupid as he did the last time the island did this, and that he would stay far, far away from that fucking karaoke machine.
Standing to one side with a glass of particularly good red wine in her hand, Stormy raises an eyebrow as she reads what's written on Asher's 'jewelery'.

Karen comes running up to the lady she met by the TARDIS, holding out a string of purple beads.
"Present!"
Karen is so excited she seems to have lost the ability to speak in full sentences.

She looks up into his face.
"...Lovely."

"If you squint you eyes and tilt your head it looks like an owl instead of... well, what it actually is." But then the instructions didn't quite fit.

Stormy tilts her head, squinting her eyes.
"A little less anatomical."
