The island had done it again. Whether it was pure chance or benevolence none of them would ever know, but somehow, someway, the place had seen fit to give them all booze again

Ellie had just been talking about parties a week ago, and here one was again. She definitely could get used to them, that was for sure. This one was particularly fun, and she got into the spirit by wearing a feathery mask and a fairly nice outfit.
The alcohol was tempting, especially with how she'd been feeling lately - she was starting to miss Devon to the point of not being able to ignore it - but, for the moment, she stayed away from it and got some food instead. It was probably better that way.
Emmy had a frog mask and Toby was in the box for him that Daddy had built so she could carry him around and she had a glass of milk that had left a thick mustache on her top lip. She had one fistful of Lily's skirt, and the other held the wooden Toby.
When she saw Ellie, she waved enthusiastically with her turtle.
Ellie spotted Lily first, then, upon looking down, saw Emmy waving at her. She shot Lily a warm smile before leaning down to be little closer to eye-level with the little girl.
"I wonder who's behind that mask," she said outloud, though it was obvious what the answer was. "Is that Emmy?"
"Not bad. I think I've settled in now," she said, though the thought wasn't as comforting as she'd expect it to be. "And it's nice to have this after all the work I've been doing this past week. By the way, I had a pregnant woman - Jessica? - come in the other day. I referred her to you."
"I figured you'd be okay with it," she smiled. She leaned down toward Emmy again. "Say. Maybe you can ask your Mommy if I can get you a little snack from the table over there. What do you say?"
There was plenty of good tasting healthy food around the stuff that obviously was created only to put kids - and adults - in sugar shock.

"We're really hoping that the shouting stage is almost over."

"She just wanted to make sure I heard her," she said, winking down at the little girl. "And how are you two today?"

"Mom!"
Though it was shouted, and a statement, it was obviously meant as a question.
Lily nodded and smiled.
"Come straight back, kidlet. And don't you give Dr. Bartowski any trouble. And hold her hand."
Lily winked at Ellie.

"Do you want up to see what you can pick?" she asked, looking down at her.
