it's been MONTHS...
It's been months since I've posted here. October, I think, just before the masses descended. My Dad came for 8wks from Thanksgiving through stock show. Olivia, Cam, Sel and Em came for Christmas and skiied for two weeks at Copper and Winter Park. R is now 19mths and T is 3.5yrs and started a new preschool in April. Three cups of tea
Finished reading "three cups of tea" by Greg Morteson. Really sweet and thought provoking boo. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a deeper knowledge of the core reason(s) behind all the drama in Pakistan and Afghanistan and how one person can make such a difference by sheer determination and truly listening to others. Really inspiring. -
Weekend in LA
Back from a weekend in LA. Saw Erica for the last time before she moves back to Oz after 6 years in LA. She is taking up an awesome research position at Monash Uni. I am very happy for her, sad for me. I only got to see her twice a year. However there is a big psychological difference between her being in LA and Melbourne ( Read more... ) -

it's that time of year again
It's the week before burning man and for the fourth year in a row, I won't be going. Maybe life has moved beyond a place where going to BM makes sense. Logistics with 2 kids are formidable. I don't feel a "need" to go, but more a quiet pull. I just want to stand on the playa with my face towards the sun and my nostrils full of dust. It'll happen is ( Read more... ) -
it's been a while...
Our annual summer party was a blast. We had a great turn out - 50 to 60 and a gaggle of kids. A bunch of neighbors turned up as well. We could not have done it without my in-laws. With ride-on mowers in hand, they turned up and helped mow about 2 acres of lawn in the days before. They also took T home with them at the end of the day so we could ( Read more... ) -
preschool
I can hardly believe it, but today was T's first day (morning, actually) of preschool. He is going one morning a week over the summer and then 4 mornings a week starting in the fall. When I left him he was knee deep in the wading pool and having a lovely time. I'll go pick him up in about 1/2hr. So it will be interesting to see how it went. -

Iran
Looks like it's getting pretty crazy over there - esp in Tehran. I hope everyone I met there back in 2001 is safe. I hope the then uni student I met on the bus to Yazd has had the sense to keep low ( Read more... )
