I needed warm socks for sleeping last night. I'm chilly in the house. The basement's cold all summer with the air conditioning on, but it gets warmer (inside) when it's cooler (outside) and anniemal doesn't need the AC.

I had 2 encounters with nature today (Thursday).
Large bird diving into the C&O Canal to catch a fish.

Coming home, just onto the Capital Crescent Trail leaving Georgetown, I saw some small animal in the fringe of my light try to dart across the trail. It wasn't darting across ahead of me. It didn't seem to be aware of me ( Read more... )

There's a story on the BBC this morning about the commercial hunting of lions that are bred for being hunted. They've never lived wild, and some are accustomed to humans.
