This is a solid oak mantel that I picked up at the local antique shop. It is a great architectural feature to add character to a space. So this was after I took out the metal cabinetry and huge cast iron farm sink that I could have made work if I had the time/patience. These are Home Depot Maple Shaker-style Cheapo cabinets. So this is the kind of squalor I lived in before the reno. Wicked, eh? Yes, those tiles have fallen off and bare rotting wood is exposed right in my shower where I BATHED myself. Ugh.
