FIT FOR A PRINCESS

So this is the kind of squalor I lived in before the reno. Wicked, eh? Yes, those tiles have fallen off and bare rotting wood is exposed right in my shower where I BATHED myself. Ugh.

This is right before big demo, when I was drawing on the walls to get my design down.

This is demo day. It simultaneously hurt and liberated me to see this done. I guess that's how it goes with that kind of thing.

This is a fine example of the architectural drawings I did which were tacked on each wall for the guys to work off of. It looks EXACTLY like that picture today. Swear. The plaster & lathe used for the walls was so old, the plaster was held together with HORSEHAIR (as opposed to oh, say...FIBERGLASS!)

A little sheetrock goes a long way. But not far enough.

TA-DAAAA!!! My heart's desire was of course a clawfoot bathtub, but I simply couldn't swing it, cost or design-wise. I was able to get the feeling of the height of a clawfoot by framing the tub off the subfloor six inches (four off of finished floor). I spent about seven hours looking for a tub on the internets and ended up getting it at Home Depot for like 4 beans. It's the deepest (22"), shortest (52")tub ever, nice and cheap, acrylic. BUT! I stuffed it with wall insulation and now that tub stays steaming hot for hours. Literally hours.

I rolled out the faux-stamped-tin texture on the ceiling and rocked the crown moulding. The color's messed up in this pic b/c I had to mess with the contrast to get the texture to show.

The radiant heat is my favorite part of my renovation. Sasha digs it too.
