Onew raced up the staircase, and it was the last direction he knew. When he stepped into the hall at the top, he looked both ways, clueless. He usually trusted his sense of direction, but even a compass would be confused in this building.

He turned to try right, and there was a human, dropping the cellphone that he had in his hands when he spotted the blood-covered vampire.

"It's you.. You're Onew.." he said in a gasp, and Onew was fast to close the distance between them, pulling the shorter human against him by his arm. "Show me where to find The Council."

"You-you killed my best friend." the human said, "You killed Yoseob."

Onew shifted his grip on the human, grabbing onto the back of his hair and shoving him forward just a bit. "The Council."

"I don't know where to find them." the human said, angry and nervous at the same time.

"Then find me someone who does. Go."

The human hesitantly obeyed.

It had seemed quiet for a strangely long time when Minho heard someone walk in. The thick footsteps were like a slow and ominous countdown, until there was the squeak of an opening cell door.

"Sungmin." a voice said.

There was a moment of pause before Minho heard Sungmin walking out of the cell, and then the squeak of the door shutting. Before they could leave, Hongki spoke up, "Wait.."

"Do you have something to say?" the unfamiliar voice asked.

"Where are you taking him? Where's Jay, and Jungmo? Even if it's bad, tell me."

Minho wasn't so sure he wanted to know "if it's bad", but he listened still. It seemed like there was a long considering pause, and then the voice said, "Shouldn't you know? You went there first."

Footsteps again, and Sungmin was gone.

"Hey." Hongki said. Minho said nothing. He just glanced toward the wall, wondering what Hongki had to say to him. It was another moment before the hunter spoke, saying, "I need you to do me a favor when you get out of here."

"If I get out of here." Minho softly corrected.

"You'll get out of here." Hongki said. A clinking of metal drew Minho's attention to the bars, and he saw something shiny drop down in front of his cell. He blinked, standing and hurriedly walking to the bars, recognizing the shiny object as a key. "How did you--"

"Sungmin did it, while I distracted that guard person. I can tell you where to go to get out. But you have to do me a favor."

"I'll do it." Minho said without wondering what it was, kneeling to reach through the bars and grab the key from the floor.

"Protect Taemin." Hongki said.

".. I can try," Minho said, and then asked, "Why aren't you coming?"

"Because two humans are a lot more loud than one. Anyway, if the others are going down, I'm going down with them."

Minho moved over to the door of his cell, frowning. "I need help. And Onew's here too, I can't exactly leave him. If something happens to him.."

"I don't know about that." Hongki answered. "But I've heard a lot, and I think Onew is going to escape on his own just fine."

"He won't leave without me." Minho said, "He'd get caught trying to find me."

"Then it'll be my job to make sure he finds out you're gone." Hongki said, and then grinned. "Come to think of it, if you let me out after you, I can make a big distraction. Then getting out should be no problem for you."

"Are you sure about this?" Minho asked.

"I don't have time to be sure about this. Just hurry up and unlock us."

Minho did swiftly, Hongki speaking as he did. "We only get one shot. You go to the left, I'll go to the right. From that hall you go up the stairs and then right, left, up the stairs, left left right, door to the left.

As the lock clicked and Minho pushed his cell door open, he repeated, "up the stairs, right, left, up the stairs, left left right, door to the left."

As Minho unlocked Hongki's cell, the hunter nodded. "Then you'll be outside."

Hongki slid his door open after the lock clicked and said, "Good luck Minho."

"Wait. If I can't--"

"Go!" Hongki interrupted before he ran off to the right. Minho hesitated before he started off in the opposite direction, his legs fast but his mind faster, and the pace of his heartbeat maybe even faster than that.

If he didn't run into anyone, if he somehow made it out, how would he find Taemin? How could he protect him? What if Onew didn't make it out? What if they just killed Onew? He'd drop dead.

He went up the stairs, to the right, to the next left, up more stairs, and he was just running to the left again when he crashed into someone. He fell onto the floor on top of a body, and quickly started to push off. But, his arm was grabbed and he was more or less pulled up. That's when he saw the person who he'd fallen on was Kwang...

And the person who pulled him up was Onew.

"Onew.."

"Minho." Onew pulled his human close, shutting his eyes tightly as he kissed him.
