Home Now
I brought mom home from the hospital a couple hours ago. She's doing fairly well, though she isn't as awake as she was yesterday. Apparently she was fighting with the bed for a while, and the meds are making her drowsy. I'm letting her sleep for now and am checking on her every so often. She's going to need a lot of care for the next several weeks. -
Surgery Went Well
Mom is out of surgery, and I got to speak with the surgeon. He says that it went well, though she lost more blood than expected. ("She oozed.") She's in the recovery room and waking up, and I should see her in about a half hour. -
Round 2...
Mom's reverse shoulder replacement surgery has been rescheduled for today, since a test yesterday showed that her potassium levels were back up to normal. I guess the bananas, baked potato, and the spinach helped, along with supplement pills ( Read more... ) -
Surgery got cancelled
Well, after a couple hours of waiting, they found out that her potassium level was really low and it was going to be dangerous to have anesthesia, so they decided to cancel. The alternative was to go on a 4+ hour IV drip of potassium that would be extremely painful, then have an extremely tired surgeon work on her in the afternoon ( Read more... ) -
Surgery
I'm really not looking forward to tomorrow. My mother is having surgery on her shoulder. Well, technically she's getting a NEW shoulder since she's having a "reverse shoulder replacement". Apparently the muscles in front have basically disintegrated and she needs to switch the ball and socket to have any range of motion. She's been in a ton of pain ( Read more... ) -
Driving!
Well, my birthday was a few days ago, and I completely forgot that my driver's license expired! Saturday, I had someone take me to the DMV, only to find out that they were closed because of the holiday on Monday for some reason. I went back today and got things renewed okay, though they wouldn't take my debit card. Apparently the DMV hates Visa. ( Read more... ) -
An update for those who aren't on my friends list for whatever reason..
Short version: I quit my job today for various reasons that I won't go into in a public entry, and if you wish to know more about it, feel free to poke me and ask. -
I have a job!
Well, technically I don't start until September 7th, but I've been offered the position! I'll be taking calls at a call center called West Corporation, under a contract for Aetna insurance. I'll be answering questions about people who are interested in Medicare, send them information packets, offer to schedule them to talk with someone in person, ( Read more... )
