Surgery got cancelled

Jul 19, 2011 10:34

Well, after a couple hours of waiting, they found out that her potassium level was really low and it was going to be dangerous to have anesthesia, so they decided to cancel. The alternative was to go on a 4+ hour IV drip of potassium that would be extremely painful, then have an extremely tired surgeon work on her in the afternoon.

Hopefully they'll be able to get her in on Thursday, assuming the potassium pills have an effect by then. It's rather strange, since her levels were just fine in a test last week, and there've been no changes.

health, mother
