Quite alive, actually. I've gotten into the bad habit of tag-blogging over on Tumblr and remembered that there are slightly better venues for rambling personal thoughts over on this part of the internet.

I've had a spare universe rattling around in my brain for quite a few years now. I should learn to recognize that my creative impulses run in clearly-defined cycles. I spent all last semester doing serious worldbuilding for original fiction without putting anything concrete down into the two big novel-shaped things these ideas should feed. Ray Bradbury passed away today. It's impossible to say how much his stories meant to me, because they've informed so many aspects of my life that they're simply a part of me now. They are the reason I want to write, and the reason I love space, and the reason the Midwest feels more like home.

I'm not doing NaNo this year. That would be mad. Instead, I'm gonna try this: Write Something, You Miserable Fuck. Underachievement, permission to whine, gratuitous swearing and good-natured abuse? Sounds like exactly my cup of tea. And I've dragged my roommate and my friend T into it as well. This is gonna be fantastic.
