HUFFLEPUFF COMMON ROOM - Jedi masterofpuns September 1 2010, 04:52:27 UTC
The din within the common room was enough to try anyone's nerves, and Jacen was taking several breaths to focus himself, so that he could concentrate on the conversation that the gathered Jedi apprentices were having. They were pressed against a wall, displaced from the general hubbub in the center of the room, where people were attempting to do headcounts, and generally having a difficult time given all the commotion ( ... )

The commotion did not bother Tenel Ka, who probably could have been in the middle of a blizzard and only mildly perturbed. She leaned against the wall close to Jacen, hand resting on her lightsaber - just in case, of course - and for the time being was content to listen to the others speak, not yet finding a need to interject.

Until the windows exploded, of course.

It was a matter of instinct, unclipping her weapon and thumbing it on with that familiar snap-hiss. By the time Jacen turned back to the group, she was already standing ready, face set.

"The wards have not held," she stated. "They will be here momentarily, I believe, and we are of more use out there than in here."

The commotion was the least of Zekk's worries as he easily tuned it out until it was only a buzz in his ears and his mind. He leaned back against another wall, eyes closed as he opened himself to the Force, waiting. Something would happen, he could feel it. And when the wards broke...

He took a deep and calming breath, his lightsaber in his hand immediately as his eyes opened and he glanced over his friends.

"Tenel Ka is right. One of the other students can put up a barrier and hold down the fort," Zekk spoke slowly, mouth twitching into a frown. "We should stick in pairs."

Jaina ducked down instinctively at the sound of the shattering glass, taking a step next to Zekk's side in a movement that had once been habit as she stood against his back, her hand sliding to grab and ignite her lightsaber. She bit into her lip as her eyes scanned the area, taking a deep breath and opening her sense to the Force as violet light sprung forth.

"Unbelievable," she muttered under her breath, before turning to face Tenel Ka and Jacen and speaking in a clearer voice, "Never was that great with them anyway."

Jaina turned, withdrawing her wand in her other hand. "Pairs work." She sent a meaningful look at her brother. If anything were to happen to him...

...well, she'd know.

Catty groaned into her glass of water, glancing at the inferi that had gotten into the kitchen without them noticing. Or maybe it had been there all along. She took a deep breath, wand in her hand just as quickly. "Yeah, I can tell."

The obvious noise of shuffling and awkward jerking enough of a tell-tale sign of other creatures in the kitchens with them. "So, uh. You didn't exactly look really well when you came in for cake, did you?"

"I'm not going to remember this commentary for a later time!" Catty protested, before flicking her wand and causing a couple of inferi running at her to catch on fire, diverting their course.

She let out a soft growl, irritated as the others broke through. How in the world did this happen without them hearing them at all? Glowering, Catty grabbed a frying pan, smacking it hard into the face of the poor reanimated body of a woman in a tacky pants suit. "We need to get more out in the open."

It hadn't taken Yellow long at all to figure out that nobody was really listening to the people giving orders.

Especially not the people giving orders ( ... )

Her breath was caught somewhere between her throat and her heart, and even though she could feel her lungs working, she wasn't sure anything was actually coming out. There had been no Inferi to cross her path so far, but every single tiny sound was like--

And then a monster jumped right at her from around the corner, and Kairi screamed, leaping backward and jerking up her wand, an unknown spell on the tip of her tongue. Abruptly the monster turned into a smiling Yellow, who seemed to be saying something, but Kairi's heart was in her throat and pounding so hard she could not hear anything, let alone form a coherent reply.

She took a moment to regain her bearings and lowered her wand, gasping. "Yellow! Please don't do that!"

Yellow's bright smile had faltered when Kairi drew her wand, but he didn't even think to raise his own in return. Kairi wouldn't hurt him. She wouldn't.

"Wha!! Sorry, sorry, I didn't mean to scare you!" he said frantically, putting up his hands in apology. "Well, not that much. You should have told someone you were leaving!"

(You should have told me you were leaving, she thought. Keeping a secret was one thing, but what if Kairi had gotten hurt somewhere alone in the corridor? One injured person can't make it to the hospital wing alone.)

Yellow quickly brushed off the train thought, smiling and refocusing on the task at hand. "Anyway. Who or what are you looking for? It's not good to be out here for too long, so let's get it done quickly! It would be best if no one got hurt."

Aerith had her journal opened beside her so that she could keep an eye on the entries as they were posted. However, her mind was certainly not encapsulated by that task. She had other things to concentrate on - like coercing the wayward plants to follow her commands.

Slipping her wand into a hidden slot in her staff, she raised it above her head and murmured a low litany of spells under her breath. The sort of magic she was utilizing could only be dubbed "White Magic" because it was derived fully from the elements around her.

As the spells finally started taking effect, the Greenhouses began to glow faintly, acting as beacons for anyone nearby. If any Inferi came this way, she had a nasty surprise in store for them.

"I'm fine!" Aerith's cheerful voice cut through the unsettling sounds the Inferi were making as if they didn't exist at all. Then again, she had a reason for feeling quite cheerful. The plants in the Greenhouses had been transformed into small - and, some, not so small - soldiers. They were marching against the Inferi courageously (if you could call a plant courageous), pulling them apart limb from limb or finding various ways to set them on fire.

"Are you okay?" she waved her staff, sending another drove of plants to give Dionysus a clear path to the Greenhouses if he chose to land.

Slytherin Common Room; Open gunsngrenades September 1 2010, 05:27:51 UTC
Jayne had been uncomfortable all week. He knew something bad was coming, just didn't know what. When they were all asked to stay together and gather in the Common room, he begrudgingly complied. He wasn't one to be a coward, but he wasn't completely stupid. His gut told him this was going to be something terrible. He wasn't going to believe anyone telling him that everything would be fine ( ... )

Gazille didn't like the current situation he was in, trapped in a castle with an Inferi army surrounding it. He was far from being scared, but he wasn't in the mood to fight anything, much less for anyone. Hogwarts was a sort of light punishment for being part of the Phantom Lord guild and what he did to other mages and muggles, so he didn't think the school deserved his help.

The dragonslayer kicked out what was left of the window's glass that shattered during the attack, and sat down on the window sill, looking down on the monsters that lurked about. Even though he didn't want to help, he did feel like he needed some good exercise, like punching and kicking stuff without holding back. Just like old times.

Gazille lifted his eyes as he felt movement and found Jayne, holding his wand. He narrowed his eyes as he thought about it for a moment.

"You're going to fight?"

Jayne looked over at the other student. He seemed vaguely familiar, but then he was never that good with names. He stood and sauntered over to him. Looking out the window, he could fully gauge just how crazy everything was. He clenched his jaw.

"Yeah, I'm going to fight. Can't just sit in here all day. You going?"

Gazille followed Jayne's gaze and smirked at all the Inferi that were making their way into the castle. He was remembering an interesting conversation he had with Kanda some time ago, and wondered if that guy was having fun with all the monsters already.

"Yeah, I'm going. No use sitting here, watching everyone else fighting."

The dragonslayer stood up and played with his wand between his fingers, as he made the way to the door that led outside. He was feeling excited about this, actually, and it had been a while since he last felt like this. Hogwarts really was full of surprises.

"Heh, I wonder if I'll even need this?", he asked to no one in particular, confident that his dragonslayer abilities would be enough to deal with the undead army.
