So I'm late in posting what I did for Thanksgiving and wanted to get a quick recap in before it got too far away from me. My Master's thesis is officially printed and mailed in. All I have left is getting a copy of the signature page and then burning an electronic copy for the library and I AM DONE!

Now that we've made it past Halloween we've entered into corporations favorite holiday, Christmas- oh wait, what happened to Thanksgiving? Yes, it's that time of the year were I start compiling a list of stores who advertise for the Christmas holiday before Thanksgiving with the goal of boycotting them for holiday purchasing. The GPS is natorious for pronouncing things wrong. So far the most hilarious one my GPS has said was "In North Out" for the fast good chain In'NOut. LOL

Last weekend was the department retreat. Ok, that's not quite right. It was the biochemistry department retreat, which is part of the chemistry department and all of us first years were pretty much required to go regardless of our division. Last week orientation started, which was a nice change of pace as when left to my own devices I turn into a nocturnal, lazy bum. Thursday and Friday consisted of ACS placement exams. We had to take 5 of them and needed to pass three. Those days were long, but there was good bonding with the other chemistry first year students over mutual suffering ( Read more... )

Although I miss the dorms at Scripps from time to time, I can honestly say I don't miss living in dorms. Graduate housing is like dorms plus. The rooms are slightly larger and you get a kitchen (apartment for beginners), but you still have to deal with drunk idiots standing outside your window talking loudly at 3 in the morning on Friday night.
