Yesterday I witnessed about the most misogynistic thing I've seen in a long time. As a first year chemistry grad student we are all required to take this first year seminar course were we take turns presenting on papers. I finally have a home on campus. I joined a spectroscopy lab, instead of a straight up atmospheric lab, but it's a good fit. They do cool stuff, but it's complicated and I have a ton to learn. Got a wake up call this morning from the emergency survives on campus informing us of a Tsunami warning as a result of the giant earthquake off the coast of Japan yesterday (I hope all of you over there are safe). I just spent half an hour doing two sink loads of my roomie's dirty dishes that have been sitting for a week. I know she only lives here part time, but I do feel it's ridiculous that I do all the cleaning in the apartment when she helps create at least part of the mess while she's here. So was grading with friends this afternoon and came across an awesome answer. The kid clearly didn't know the answer, so went for the laugh and I appreciate it. The question was asking about the difference in volatility of two compounds. The students answer?

"One is more afraid of dinosaurs"
