In the midst of a very difficult morning, I read an article on BBC about a child that was born with an extra finger and toe on each of his hands and feet. I was moved by the sentiment expressed by the doctor:

I have never been much of a Christmas person. We do the customary dinner and gift exchange, but the traditions have dwindled over the years. No one really comes to visit. I went for my blood test today. It went totally fine before and during it - I chatted with the nurse while it was done and a little after it, then when it was done I passed out and almost threw up. You know you went too long between doctor's visits when one visit yields two prescriptions, a referral to an ENT, a referral to a chiropractor, a referral to an optometrist, an appointment for a blood test, and a heavy sigh of disappointment.

Ugh ugh ugh.

I am disgustingly happy and so completely damaged at this moment.

This is not a good condition in which to study.

Last night may have been one of the scarier nights of my life. I had a fairly average night with a performance, interrupted by a big disappointment (my parents came to see my show and then left the split second it ended, leaving me running around the lobby looking for them, thinking they'd wait to say hi).
