No poor sai. Take a look at my first post today. Yes you are right this is not an apology at all. If it was the data would be destroyed but instead he brags about it. Sigh
Hmm... my reply to you seems to have been eaten by the internet!
Well. You are so right! If he was sincere, and recognized his fail, he'd point out that he had deleted all the data with a computer-savvy IRB person standing right there and then provide the email and phone # of that person *so anyone could contact them and verify.* It wouldn't absolutely guarantee no other copies had been made or printed, but it would show a good faith effort to make amends, which is what this apology lacks completely. When you've done harm, you work to fix it. He just cuts and runs, in a most irresponsible way.
You've probably caught it by now, but, given the context, I'm pretty sure romaine24 was suggesting that one should emphatically not feel sorry for Sai.
In brief, Sai has publicly aligned himself with heinously reactionary, "back to the good old days", anti-feminist, misogynistic, homophobic [it probably wouldn't be hard to keep going, but you get the point] thought, which makes it hard to imagine him an innocent in all this. [I hope I haven't misrepresented your opinion here, romaine24; please let me know if I did]
I just dropped in to congratulate you on the use of the 'words' craptastically and twerpitude. Sounds like a cross between Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape ;)
Hee! I try to break up my usual boring bookish prose with some of the lively language the good fandom bloggers use. I rather liked twerpitude. I hear "craptastic" from college students all the time, usually describing a class. *g*
I had some choice phrases for classes while at Uni, I assure you! :D I aslo have a few I aim at the laptop, particularly if I have to operate under Windoof (win- for windows / doof= German for stupid...)
yes, one of the many things fandom is helping people develop skills and perception on is how to apologize so that it works! ...like Shaggirl; damn, that was some beauty and courage on display.
