Ogi, thanks for more evidence of your social immaturity, your sexist bias, your utterly self-absorbed scientific twerpitude:

ha, your icon! *dives in happily to the teeming ocean of diversity*

I was chatting on the IJ Xpost of this with Ven about Al's tentacle-porn manip and how like the RPS fics, it's the kind of great, glorious critical-creative response to Ogi that fandom exists for. I suddenly thought wow, the coolest panfandom celebration fest would be a commemoration/creative response to all our dozen Fails of the last few years. Look at the sharp-edged meta, the myriad icons (our equivalent of political cartoons), the macros and RPS and creative new comms that have come out of them. And bigger things even: like OTW and DW, and with the migration onto IJ and DW, new ways to cross-link.

So a cool fest it could be, because reflective and all. With so many genres: vids and filks and fics, meta and art and icons, crafts, hell. Comms. And new forms of association and organization. With categories like ..um, critical reflection/ creative engagement/ collaborative response? (that last to mean, going cool new places, but I wanted to have a "C." Brainfail.)

And then, y'know, collect it up into multimedia zines or a scholarly book on CD! Show everyone that when idiots like FanLib mess with fandom, we turn them into creative new solutions. And when fandom has to work out its disputes, like the big wank fails, we take *that* onto creative new levels of coexistence, too. Feminist-informed anarcho-democracy FTW. (Are we the Dispossessed? I wish!)
