So I'm sitting here trying to sign on to my school website to do homework, and it won't let me. So I decided to start on a little project I've wanted to do for some time now. This is part-essay and part musing on my part. It may or may not fit in with your head-canon or even historical knowledge. On both parts I am open to increasing my own ( Read more... )

Ah i'm glad you wrote this. I'm always defending Ivan but i could never really form a solid coherent argument. This has provided much needed structure and references. I hope you don't mind if i link people/use parts of this. Whenever i think of Russia i just want to give him a big hug, he deserves it.

Feel free to like to it, that's what it's there for! I separated their personalities from them as a couple simply because I wanted to let them stand alone as well. No matter what couple they're in, this is how I see each character.

Very interesting stuff! It's nice to see how some of this stuff works in your head (not gonna lie, your Russia/Lithuania fanfics are some of my favorites ( ... )

There was almost a Russian-Lithuanian Commonwealth! I think about that all the time. A Lithuanian prince (if I remember correctly Jogaila) was engaged to a Russian princess, only to marry a Polish one instead. I wonder how things would have gone if that had happened...

The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth also fought the Mongols once, and suffered a terrible, terrible defeat. And yes they allied with them here and there, and I imagine Lithuania felt bad about that, which could even be why they tried to fight them. The way I see it poor little Russia fought and fought, waiting for someone to help out. Instead he ended up having to do it all on his own, so he didn't depend on anyone from that time on.

Also that strip breaks my heaaarrrt. Little Russia (Moscovy) thinking he had to be big and strong in order to be Lithuania's friend...

I agree with basically all you saida bout Russia. I've never thought of him as a rape truck and I've always roleplayed it that he's like a child. One who hurts those by accident and doesn't quite realise what he's saying. (This coming from how he was treated as a child, therefore doesn't quite know that it is bad ( ... )

Thank you for your reply. :) I don't read much fiction myself, even though I write so much of it. The main reason was that people kept writing Russia pretty much criminally insane and I don't think he is. I like Lithuania as a pairing with him because I think Lithuania has the attentive nature that suits Russia. They have a long history, of course not all of it good, but that's also a lot of time to get to know each other. Lithuania doesn't seem to hate him in canon. Fear sometimes maybe, but never hate.

I like other Russia pairings too, don't get me wrong. I just like RussLiet best. :)

Oh man, RuAm! I hate it with a burning passion, lol. It's one of the few pairings I actively dislike. I don't mine RuPru, but I agree, minus the rape and pure brutality please. I also dislike very dominant Canada (don't mind him top, but not dominant) and pedo England too. :( You can click above in my last comment for my fics if you like. Mostly RussLiet but I have some other pairings in there.

Hey, I don't know if you're up to debate, but, huh... Well, feel free to tell me if you don't wanna! But I don't like this pairing - I could explain why if you were interested - and I wanted to ask you a few questions. I don't mean to insult you or anything - as I said, I just don't understand the pairing and I'm very curious to see where it's fans are coming from ( ... )

Really? I can't rememeber, ahah. I may not agree with your points, but I'm definitely not sarcastic when I say I'm interested in them! I seriously love to debate and read other people's opinion ( ... )

Actually you're wrong, my point of view is actually more from Lithuania's point of view than anything. Not being into the pairing you wouldn't know my fics as I am assuming others who read this have, or would if they're into RussLiet. All of my fics are from Lithuania's point of view. I'd just like to point out that if you look at Lithuanian media right now, they're extremely resentful of the Polish right now too. This doesn't mean they're not still friends. Maybe you'd argue that well, the Polish haven't done as many bad things as the Russians. Well, true, but that's beside my point ( ... )

Actually, it was Latvia, not Estonia, that Russia was chasing in the strip for splashing him with cold water. The Lithuania new-profile link just links right back to this article. Aaaaand I don't know where the date strip is either (*sadface* *wanted to help*).

Very good reasoning, and I'm happy to see that yes, you've definitely done your research. <3

Actually, it was Estonia. It's during the extra hacking story about someone hacking Estonia's website. He goes and blames Russia for it, and it turned out it was an Estonian citizen. So Russia pulls out his pipe and chases him. Wow, that sounds like a fanfic. Here it is! I'll fix the profile one. XD Thank you!

Ah, okay. Thank you for clearing that up, then. ^^; The beating-up comment linked to Latvia splashing Russia with water and then getting hit with the pipe (presumably), so I became a little confused. Mea culpa.

Yeah it was two separate scenes I should have been more specific. I've edited it now. ^^ Not many know about that extra comic. XD
