[In scribbly, quick writing...]

I wish Angeal and Aerith would come back. Even if it's just for a moment.

[Above the actual wish is a lot of crossed off or scribbled out words.]

I wish I knew for certain that Anthy was safe and truly happy.

[Walking down the street, he spots the ramen shop that several people have mentioned before. He knows that the owner was the one suggesting a Tanabata celebration - it's the purpose of his little walk today.]

[So he walks to the door of the shop and knocks twice.]

Hello! This is where the Tanabata celebration is going on, right?

Utena had been putting the finishing touches on the refreshment table when she heard the knock. She walked - well, bounced really, this festival had really lifted her mood - to the door and opened it.

"Hi! It is, come on in and enjoy the party!" She ushered the boy inside.

"Refreshments are over at that table and over here is our bamboo plant and wishing table. Enjoy!"

[He doesn't really know why he's here. It's not as if he believes writing wishes on paper and setting them afloat will actually make them come true. He's not even really sure what he believes in anymore. Something like this is for those that hold onto optimism, hope, and goodwill. It's not for lost, broken-down sinners who've lost everything but the fear of death.

Still, a celebration of wishes like this, it stirs something in him long dormant--an eleven-year-old boy who should have perished long ago. He can't help but feel strangely at peace here, as he did once before here, months ago in the snow in a week of no sun, despite his general discomfort with social gatherings.

It's...enough to have him even make a wish.

[When Scar had decided to come, Mei had been a little bit more than overjoyed. It was hard to go out and spend a lot of time with him and now that he was here, she couldn't help but be a little excited.

So she smiles up at him, tilts her head and wonders what she should say. After that fireworks incident...]

Did you make a wish too, Scar-san?

[He sometimes marvels at how she can smile at him so easily, innocently. She sees the best in him when he doesn't deserve it and sometimes he wants to smile back for her. He never quite gets close to that childish joy that he sees so often, but when he looks back at her his expression is mild and placid, the usual scowl missing altogether.

He nods in response to her question, and meanwhile, though he doesn't go to tie it to the tree, he mentally makes another wish--that the spark in her eyes as she looks at him never fades.]

And you?

I did! I don't think I can tell you though. [She giggles a little, glancing over at the bamboo.] It won't come true if I do.

[But she does reach up and pat his arm. He seems better from before... and while Mei doesn't know much about what happened in his past, she does know that Scar's suffered enough. She's glad he's here, that he can get this chance to take a break from it all.]

I hope your wish comes true.

[Arthur isn't very good at this; the courtly manners and decorum he learned strictly for celebratory feasts are outdated and of no use to him here. Still, he's out of his armour - a rare enough sight - and lounges long-legged and looking unimpressed on a stool, one elbow propped on the counter.

Despite his bored expression, he's enjoying watching the people come and go, the looks on people's faces as they take their wishes to tie upon the tree, and he is content to remain unrecognized - it's that sort of mood.

Still, he does sort of wish there were someone here to tell him what the food and drink is.]

Ho ho ho! Senji will drop in later (before one of my replies, so we don't get all confused) COO? yetsleeping July 8 2010, 07:08:26 UTC
[She feels a little silly, being there. It isn't her holiday (or is that a festival? Is there really a difference?) and she's not even certain that she believes in holidays... or festivals. Or wishes, for that matter. But the festival's story had been lovely, and the festival itself seems sweet, and it never hurts to put a little faith in things.

Err, well, it normally doesn't anyway.

Besides, Senji is always looking for an excuse to eat his native cuisine!

So she hangs her wish on the plant and watches the bright yellow paper swing in the breeze for a moment before she turns away,, glancing over the crowd in search of the ever wandering Crow.

Instead, she sees Arthur, a rather bland look on his face, watching the crowd.

It's automatic, after that: first she waves, and then she starts walking, and then she smiles.]

You aren't in your armor!

[Well, it's true. In fairness, neither is she.]

[Arthur notices Priscilla easily enough amongst the scattered people in the shop. He is content to let her be, though he watches her a little in that unusual outfit, much more like something from his home and time than she would usually wear.

But when she smiles, an answering expression quirks the corner of his mouth, and at her words he sits up a little straighter, feeling strangely light without his chain mail. He doesn't even have his gloves or long brown coat, since the weather's turned so much warmer recently.]

Didn't think I'd need it. [He raises his eyebrows at her.] This is supposed to be a party, after all. And you- you're wearing a dress.

LMAO THAT'S. OKAY I NEED TO GO TO BED SOON ANYWAY. yetsleeping July 8 2010, 07:46:03 UTC
I've worn dresses before!

[...well, all right, not very often. Actually, come to think of it, it's normally when she has to negotiate with the Anatolians and doesn't want them thinking she's going to eat them. Or cut them in half, as the case may be.

Still, she glances down at the dress in question and tugs the skirt with her fingertips.]

I didn't want to scare anyone. Although! I don't believe in leaving home without some kind of weapon anymore.

[The daggers, in this case, safely strapped to her ankles, out of sight.]

Anyway. You look very... dashing.

[Wishes.

Hisana had wishes. She had lots of tiny wishes, simple things that he would not hesitate to grant, reaching up into the sky and plucking whatever she so desired because his power and reach were great and she deserved anything and everything he could give her and more.

He had never had any, not until he met her. He'd been raised to use his power to attain whatever he wanted, not to waste time wishing and hoping for something.

He's a little surprised at himself when he shows up, out of uniform, lacking anything that separates him from a common man save for that straight posture and noble air, but that pride that is usually there in his eyes is a bit more distant. He's not here for anyone but Hisana, a time to reflect on something he hadn't in a little while.

He ties his own little wish, an impossible one, but a most important one. Hisana had always said even a prince had a wish. He'd never believed her until she died.]

[Well! This is certainly a surprise. He didn't expect to see Byakuya here without his personally dragging the captain here through a combination of asking and trying to come up with excuses for it to be worth his while.

It's even more surprising to see him without the captain's haori and shihakushou.

His greeting when he approaches the younger shinigami is a little less enthusiastic than it might be--if he's here of his own accord, it's best not to push him--but he still gives Byakuya an easy grin.]

You should dress casually more often. It suits you a lot.

[He himself is out of uniform, which he isn't usually--he's comfortable enough in it to wear it for everyday purposes. But hey, it's a party.]

[He breaks away from those simple musings to regard perhaps one of the only people he'd be willing to talk to. He had expected Kaien to urge him to participate, had resigned himself to it, but it was a much welcome, pleasant surprise he'd been able to decide without an outside influence.]

It is reserved for special occasions. [The only time he'd ever walked around without those noble heirlooms had been around the estate and usually only in her presence. It feels odd.]

Have you made a wish?

heartbetween July 8 2010, 08:14:10 UTC
[It's rather nice to be able to talk like this. Only months ago, Byakuya would have tried to shoo him off or ignored him outright. He knows they're not exactly close yet either, but he appreciates Byakuya closing some of the distance.]

Don't think I've ever seen you out of uniform, actually.

[And then a soft chuckle.]

Yeah, I have.

[He doesn't say that part of the wish is for Byakuya to see him as a friend someday]
