Back in 2022 we went to Gainesville, Florida. Here are a selection of photos that I took with my rig. Mostly of the sandhill cranes - which are a subspecies of the crane that do not migrate!
This day wound up being the worst weather wise of the trip but also the best for pony viewing. I took a chance and drove us the long trip to the other side of the island and we were rewarded with many ponies

I took my mom to pony island. I thought she would be delighted that the ponies were here and we had only been here for five mins. But these ponies were real far away. She wanted them to be closer.
I've been meaning to stop by this house for years and it recently had a fire and reminded me that it won't be standing for much longer along I-65. So I went to Asheville, NC by myself this time and I was determined to stop there. I got there at just the right moment to catch the sunset change color and intensity by the minute.
Spotted this off the side of the road and had to stop for a few pics. I was in no way prepared to go hiking through tall grass so I satisfied myself with these two shots.
We went to the dark sky part of Michigan to see the meteor shower. The full moon was too bright and we didn't see any. But we had an amazing three day mini-escape.
