Aaaanything in general would be appreciated. I'm thinking of playing her after episode 12, but before the manga.

Specific advice on how to get him to be more social within the bounds of IC-ness, but any and all general advice would also be appreciated.

also, for the mod, may we have non-customized comment pages please? :o

I think your best bet would be to start with one character he's... willing to put up with, so to speak, and use that to branch out. As a Wufei mun, I can safely say that building bridges one at a time is really the only way sometimes. Having something in 'common' usually helps, although honestly it probably has to be through necessity, it being Heero.

I hope that's coherent, I just woke up.

That was coherent enough for me, thank you&hearts

You're right that a lot of his willingness to talk to others stems from necessity or a common goal, and I'm just ... afraid that even those conversations sound too stilted, because he is just so business-oriented. I guess I'll just have to be patient.

My recaptcha is not as cool as yours. XD

Worst case scenario, you could build on the sort of team dynamic necessary during events, if your comm has them--interactions involving doing things seem more his style? Especially early on. But yeah, I think with characters like Heero, patience is going to be necessary.

I'm not familiar with your particular Sho, so as you say, general advice:

Don't stick to math references that he makes in the games. Be creative, invent your own. This can be hard if you're not a math whiz yourself, but it works wonders for making him fun to read.

Well, I'm not actually a Sho player, but from general observation:

- He's deeply self-absorbed and egomaniacal, but that doesn't mean he'd do well without other people's attention. In nearly every conversation in canon, he deliberately tries to aggravate whoever he's talking to, or somehow demand reactions from them.

- He likes to piss people off with faked flirtiness or sarcastic intimacy (in the Japanese, he calls Kitaniji "Megumi-chan." And abuses tildes to no end. I don't believe much of this was carried over in the otherwise excellent translation.)

- He likes to be important in other people's eyes. He's a constant attention-seeker, though he doesn't care whether it's admiration, fear, or hatred. He'd hate being the target of compassion, pity or affection, though. (...That's garbage. Crunch!)

- The first person's advice is sound - Sho's mathematical knowledge is enough that he should be making new references and math puns. However, he shouldn't abandon his catchphrases! Just not rely on them wholly.

Good luck!

Tying in with the other two anons: don't use "zetta" in every other sentence.

I'm completely serious. I've seen it done before and it's not pretty.

Advice please? Whats some tips to go by when doing apps?

Re: Apping anonymous July 25 2009, 17:02:48 UTC
Do your weakest sections first - use all the motivation and skill you've got to make the sections you're weakest in shine. Not only will it help you improve at writing those sections, but it should improve the quality of the app in all; the sections you're good at or know like the back of your hand should write themselves, and make for an awesome app in all. ♥ At least, that's how I see it.

Be detailed - it's way better to be extra detailed than to be not detailed enough. A mod would rather read a well written app than a poorly written one, after all. And it's better safe than sorry: if you aren't sure, put it in. Just make sure that you've fleshed out every section as much as you can...

But detailed doesn't mean tl;dr. If there's no upper word count limit, then just keep in mind that it can be really daunting for mods and other players alike to read your app if it's too long. Though longer is better than shorter ( ... )

Probably, my biggest bit of advice is to take your time on it, especially if you have a reserve or a grace period in which to get it in (and it's not "first come first serve"). An app that is turned in later but has far fewer errors and typos is much more likely to be accepted than one that is a slap-dash job but is submitted right when the application cycle first opens ( ... )

This might seem obvious, but if the comm has guidelines for the kind of information they like to see in apps, read them. If they have sample apps, even better! I read apps for my game and so many people don't seem to give our tips/guidelines more than a cursory glance, if that. It would save a lot of time if they did.

And do not be afraid to ask questions if you have them.
