Terrified.

There was no other word for the way she was feeling right now. Granted, this did, in some ways, cover a great deal of emotions Nill was feeling at any given time-- typically, some form of terror was maintained throughout her day to day interactions no matter what was happening, but this--

This was different.

It was as if in the blink of an eye, everything she clung to and held dear had been taken away from her, everything comforting and easy to understand--

She'd stumbled slightly as the boat rocked under her feet, discovering beside her a small nook that could work as a makeshift bed.

Nill had no desire to sleep. She merely wanted to hide there, watch from her safe little corner to see if maybe the Priest wasn't around. Or Heine. Or even Naoto. Or Badou. Or anyone she knew and trusted, really ( ... )

The first thing that drew him to her was that she looked so scared. Not just that, but vulnerable as well. She looked like she might run any minute, and hallucination or not, Wilson couldn't help but reach out to someone like that. It was a sort of complex of his- a need to fix broken people, a need to make a difference, no matter how cheesy that sounded, like it came straight from a Christmas infomercial ( ... )

Scared. Timid. Nill was all of those things, but with good reason.

He didn't look like he would hurt her. Heine had-- well, at first Heine hadn't looked like he'd be doing anything at all, like he wouldn't care, but he didn't exactly come across as the most approachable of human beings at first sight.

A prime example of not judging a book by its cover.

Then again, many men who looked harmless could very well merely be hiding something more sinister about them.

But then he held up his hands, started talking, and asked if she was okay. She moved to shake her head yes, then stopped, trying for no-- she wasn't really sure. If she wasn't okay, he'd ask why. He'd probably think it was something like what was always wrong with Heine and Naoto, why the holes needed fixing, and then he'd want to touch her.

So she shook her head yes, even if it was a partial lie. She wasn't hurt. But that hardly meant she was okay. She was scared, confused, alone, fragile, even--

But something about him said that he seemed to just know. Maybe he'd ( ... )

It was either that she wouldn't talk, or she couldn't. And Wilson was guessing the latter- there was trust in her eyes now. A fragile sort of trust, but it was there. And she hadn't made a sound when she'd answered his question, only nodded. So this girl- as far as he could tell, wasn't able to physically talk, and Wilson found himself wondering why that was. But he wouldn't ask, no matter how curious he was.

She wasn't hurt- but she was far from being 'okay', whatever the exact definition for that was. This girl looked so breakable, so fragile it seemed that if you reached out and touched her she would shatter into a million pieces. That look in her wide blue eyes was almost paralyzing, and he felt his heart give a sort of pang ( ... )

Fragile, definitely. There was no other word to describe Nill. HEr whole past was a fragile topic in and of itself ( ... )
