It was tentative quirk of the lips, barely there. But it was a smile all the same. Wilson smiled back- gently. The smile he always wore for his patients. He was making progress, at least. She trusted him, and Wilson knew that it was the first step. A simple smile, but it made him happy to know that he had made her happy.
Because she'd looked ready to bolt when he'd spoken- but she hadn't. And with trust, came healing and redemption and whatever else you wanted to call it. Humans needed to trust one another- that's what made them uniquely human. House would call it sentimental claptrap- the kind about love and puppies and sparkles that he would always spew out.
Wilson felt the boat shake under his feet as the stern bumped into something solid. He hadn't even noticed that they had sailed so close to the docks, and now ramps were being unloaded and people were starting to walk off the boats. Wait, wait- this was a hallucination. It wasn't real- and the sound of wood scraping against wood had jerked him out of 'empathy

Too much was happening so fucking fast. Heine knew that things got like that-like there was a fucking whirlwind and sometimes you just got caught up in it, and when it set you down again you were standing someplace you'd never seen or just landed fucking sideways or something so that nothing around you looked the same, not even the god damn slant of light.
This morning he'd opened up his journal and made a face at the hideous visual assault of pink. And somehow now he and Badou…he didn't even fucking know what. But at the moment it didn't god damn matter because the two of them were going to get Nill back and if Heine had to break open some fucking skulls to do it (again), well no one was going to hear him complaining.
Actually, it might have been easier for him if they were going to bust brains. At least then he'd know how this was all supposed to go.
But from what he'd learned in the journal, that wasn't the case at all. Instead there was this damn doctor, and Nill apparently liked him and trusted him, which meant that Heine

They were here. Here, and Heine knew she was here, and knew that she was with a doctor-man, and knew that this man hadn't hurt her, and, well...
At least it was still a man.
Nill fluttered her wings slightly as she regained her balance from the rocky landing, hoping that getting off wouldn't be too bad.
The crowd was going to make her uncomfortable, she knew that much, but she also knew that she wasn't to the point where she could cling to this doctor man for comfort.
Not that she could do that sort of thing with Heine, but the theory was there.
Oh. She had to get off now.
Looking a bit uneasy, no doubt, she took a few faltering steps in front of her, occasionally glancing back to see where the doctor man was, and walked down the ramp off the boat, trying to steer clear of anyone else around.
As the man looked back, Nill looked around to see a figure approaching, confident, steady, determined, and smiled, a small wave following shortly after.
Wilson looked back, saw the blonde girl wave at an incoming boy striding up to them. Except that he didn't look like he had much intention of stopping, and as far as the grim expression on his face went, he'd probably run him down as well. Blinking a few times, Wilson decided not to let this get to him.
After all- this man looked like he was trying to intimidate him, test him. The way he carried himself, classic 'alpha male' body language. Basically saying, 'I'm in control here'. Or at least that's what Wilson thought, and obviously the best course of action would to not be fazed by it. He stood for a moment, looking Heine straight into the eyes before breaking off with slightly concerned eyes.
Despite everything, he was relieved. The girl obviously knew him- she looked so comfortable around him and not intimidated at all. So he was someone who would pick her up, keep her safe. And it seemed ridiculous that he was worrying about this now, but he worried all the same

Ironic, maybe, but the guy got points for holding his ground. Heine was testing, after all, and it was good to see that he wasn't spineless at least. And Nill looked about as good as could be expected-wide-eyed and worried, true, but who the hell didn't when they were getting off the damn boat. More importantly, she didn't look hurt and she wasn't trying to get away from this doctor guy, which meant that he must not have tried anything bad with her. If there was one thing Heine trusted, it was that Nill wasn't going to stick around for any shit she didn't want. That, more than anything else, made him relax
