Adopt-a-WIP

Jan 08, 2011 17:06

There ought to be a place to put up abandoned WIPs for adoption. I've been going through my old story folders, and there are so many unfinished stories that I still like the idea of very much, but will never finish...*

Cut for longish list of abandoned WIPs... )

tokyo babylon, eroica, harry potter, weiss kreuz, once a thief, x 1999, x-files, highlander, writing, other fandoms, supernatural, smallville, due south, wip amnesty

Good point - and I do like some amnesia fic... although I don't have a particular weakness for that particular cliché, quite unlike, say, the "undercover in a gay bar" one. :-)

In the case of that particular story, it was really more a problem of *everything* combining into a horribly embarrassing whole. But in my defense, I think it was entirely in the tradition of ST:VOY fanfic! I pretty much just ran with it...

A non-aging Paris? Like an immortal...? (Hey, HL crossovers are practically obligatory for every fandom...)

Yeah, I also liked the ST:VOY fanfic way more than the canon. Paris/Chakotay was the first slash pairing I really read extensively, and my standards were very low - I was still in the first glow of "wow, this exists!!" enthusiasm. :-) I remember I was wowed by The Left Hand of Madness, for example, and even read a really really long epic of highly dubious quality (I remember only that it featured about 20 pages of Chakotay climbing up some kind of cliff carrying the severely injured Paris, who periodically regained consciousness and then fainted again).

Ooh, RPS? Who is it? Do tell! :-)

And Vampire Diaries, hm...? I think I tried to watch the first ep of that, but gave up. Should I try again?

Waffenruhe! That is a fabulous title.

I have random WIPs, some very old - Crowley inna kimono (Crowley goes to 16th century Japan, inadvertently inspires Toyotomi Hideyoshi as future unifier of the country); On Her Majesty's Martian Service (more Bracy and Gedge on Mars); the never ending 14th century Hetalia fic (Poland and Lithuania get together and form a superpower); the boy-runs-off-to-join-the-(ancient Egyptian)-army fic (original) and more!

Isn't it?? By rights that story should be finished just for the great title! When I consider how much I usually wrestle with the title issue... grr...

I see I am not alone... and your WIPs sound really interesting! It's odd how some stories just get stuck, even though they have a lot of things going for them.

oh god, wips...i have a lot in the process. I have a Ryo/Massu AU wherein they are in a ska band with the rest of NEWS, a Shige/Massu college AU in which they ~grow~ and find themselves, my Jin/Junno/Ueda retelling of The Remarkable Rocket, and a bunch of other stuff that I'm sure I have on my hard drive...but I won't dig up because I'll feel sad. ;__;

speaking of Harry Potter, though, I remember I used to have a series of fics developing Terry Boot and Anthony Goldstien, because I love them and even though they barely did anything in the series, I liked my emo nerd and kid with (probable) Jewish sensibilities. :3

It is sad, isn't it... I usually write stories because nobody else is writing them, but I want to read them. And if I don't finish them, then I can't ever read them! Waaah...

Minor character love! Ah, I understand that so well. :-)

Tja, leider bin ich gerade bei der Geschichte wirklich nicht weit gekommen... obwohl ich den Plot in meinem Kopf schon recht weit entwickelt habe.

Actually - this is all I have... rheasilvia January 8 2011, 23:55:04 UTC
It started as a twinge - almost like an upset stomach, or standing up too quickly after a long session of meditation and not enough food. For a moment, Subaru couldn't place the off-balance feeling, and he had begun to reach out a hand to steady himself against the wall when he realized what this was. A spiritual disturbance... a ripple spreading through the ether of the spiritual world. Sparked by ( ... )

He might never have thought to check the hospitals if not for his long history of cooperating with the police; even so, he almost didn't think of it at all. But a half-dozen phone calls and several favors called in later, he had finally located his quarry ( ... )

0__0 I Really, REALLY want to read your Weiss fic. Yohji/Schu is my not-so-secret WK OTP for life and every time I stop to think about them, I really miss them. ♥ Also the TB/X/YnM crossover sounds great.

I agree, we should set up some kind of WIP bazaar. :3

Let's see what I have:

An old~ Gundam Wing metaverse in which the boys are now older and working as the head of various bad-ass divisions of the Preventers. The story started with Treize Kushrenada waking up in a secure gov. facility and I think I was going to have the Gundam boys get a long-term mission to retrieve him.

A number of Prince of Tennis ficlets that tie into a universe that my friend psiten is writing. Mostly Golden Pair fic.

I think all of my others are JE ideas. Stuff like: KAT-TUN tries to find out definitively whether Koyama is gay or not using their own individualized methods, a NakaNaka AU in which Koki is a vet, an Ohmiya PWP set to the mood of Lady Gaga's Monster... those kinds of things. :3

Well, I've posted the beginning (and all I have!) of the TB/X/YnM crossover in the comments above... although maybe reading it would be even more frustrating. I do know how that feels; I usually write stories because I want to read them, so if I don't finish, I am left hanging, too. :-((

I agree, we should set up some kind of WIP bazaar.

It would really be a good thing, wouldn't it? It would even work just as a LJ community - except that I doubt we could get it publicized widely enough to be truly useful. *sigh*

Your GW WIP sounds interesting! I used to read every GW story with Zechs I could get my hands on...

And, LOL! The Koyama JE fic! :-)
