See that? It's a little of my idealism.. too bad I have no voting voice in the federal government.
It is wrong that DC doesn't have a voting member of Congress. I live in DC. A lot of young, idealistic, do-gooder types live in DC. A fair amount of rich white folks live in DC too. There are also a whole lot of poor black people who live in DC. None of us gets to elect people to represent us in our federal government. Politics aside--and boy, are ( Read more... ) -

So I was reading Bitch PhD which linked to this post at a different blog about a story in the NYTimes about how traumatizing it can be for some men to see their wives give birth--I mean, listen to this story:

I mean, of course "y'all" and "coke" are southern, but rolling?
This is another cool accent test that plots you in the US according to how you say certain words, like "aunt" and "cot/caught." And what's cool about it is that whatever multiple choice thingy you choose, it tells you immediately where that idiom is from. So you can click on them all, like I did, to see what they mean. :)
